I never really thought amiibos had any use outside of bragging. You'll never see an amiibo at a tournament, and training them with effort is just a time waster unless you're doing it for fun. Finding a Golden Mario amiibo and showing them to your friends feels really good also.

I don't like the idea of collecting Amiibos. I think that buying them is more for a collector's collection than getting them for the content. If you want content, it is so much easier to download the content than to use your money to buy these small sized toys. From my experience, I have only seen people buy Amiibos as part of their collection set.

On one hand Amiibos are just physical DLC and usually junk like daily one-ups.  On the other, they are good for more than just one game which is a nice feature.  They're mostly nice for the extra content and if you play Smash but for the most part it's just a collection of nice statuettes.

So far I have Zelda, Bowser, Peach, Luigi (Mario), Samus (Varia), Megaman, Link, and Toad (Mario).  A friend is holding on to Ganondorf for me until we can meet.  I had to hunt down a specific version of Peach because usually every one I saw was the Mario one and I wanted the version with the filigree.  Meanwhile the Smash version of Luigi was in a hilariously dumb pose so I had to get the Mario version.

So while there are a few other characters I'm interested in having I don't see myself hunting down every last one including all the special versions, let alone the related Skylanders starter packs.  Don't get me started on Skylanders...

I think they make for really cool figurines. But as far as involvement with games goes, I couldn't be less interested.
