So, I got to wondering as I sit on the Internet, waiting for my kids to wake up so we can do Christmas Morning.

For my kids, we found a bunch of "Thomas the Train" track and engines, which goes a long way towards completing their set of Thomas the Train track and engines (They had a lot before today, what's being added will put them a little over half way to a "Complete" set.  At two years old, I know they don't really care, but my OCD demands that I have an itemized list of everything available, and that I track their progress towards a complete set.  )

My wife isn't getting anything that might be considered "Collectible".  And for myself, I expect a couple of video games, and maybe some books, all of which will help fill out one collection or another.

What did all of you guys get?  Anything that furthers one or more of your collections?  Something that you've been looking for, for a long time?  Something that you wanted really badly?

Thomas the Tank engine.

I wouldn't have heard of that name in a while if it weren't for Both A Sonic ROM hack I watched by brother try out lately, and Hack of Skyrim which implemented Sonic as the character and Thomas the Tank engine as a dragon.

I used to love that series growing up.

No, I didn't get anything like that though I always requested Thomas trains, and legos when I was younger.

I was at my other grandparents this Christmas eve, and I got a tablet.

Heh, not really something I wanted per say, but if I get a recording and sketch device on it, it could become quite useful.

What I did do recently, is I picked up a Mario ammiibo, not necessarily to use it for the New Smash Bros game, but just as a token of my childhood to grow up on. I'll treasure this and maybe it'll remind of of kinder times growing up. I would also like to Get a Star Fox one. If I could.

My family does not celebrate Christmas, but we do visit the rest of the family then as they do.

To keep on the topic of collections, like I said, I used to ask for legos a lot, but now I find they mostly take up shelf space cause I don't want to take them apart.

I know that feeling well.  I couldn't get enough LEGO as a kid, and I'm really not much better now.  I used to have a five gallon bucket mostly full of them as a kid.  I'd spend days on end building things with them, and any time I got a new set, I'd have to build it and leave it built for several weeks before I could bring myself to tear it down and use the parts to build something else

About 6-8 years ago, I started collecting the Star Wars LEGO sets again.  I was building them and setting them up for display (Who knew LEGO attracted so much dust?)  Its just been in the last year or so that I finally broke down and added them to the LEGO I have been collecting for the boys (Been picking up cheap/clearance/second hand LEGO anywhere I can find them within my price range.  I'm up to one full 35 gallon tote, and about 2/3 of a second one full of LEGO for my boys, along with a one gallon bucket full of the little people for when they are old enough to play with them.  Unfortunately, they are coming up on three years old now, so I expect that I have a few years to wait before I get to drag them all out and start playing with them with my boys.  In the meantime, I get teased a little bit by my wife for wanting to pull them out when our kids are in bed, . . . . .

Ah, legos attract a lot of dust, I know that! I used to have a toothbrush that I used to clean them.

One thing that comes to mind that I built once was a underground rock structure with a sunken temple. It was also a board game with spaces and role playing elements. You selected a minifigure and could put an item in each hand. Items were picked up by landing on the spaces that held them.

It was a fun little game. Based of a lego series called the Oriental Expedition. Out board game was basically a ramped up version of that Lego sets built in game.

We did that for years, even to the point of including Lego rock monsters from the power miner series and rebuilding the course a few times.

One of my fondest memories with legos.

Yeah, if you want to get your young'uns good legos get em the cheap basic stuff. That's actually what you want cause it makes the bulk of your structure. I hated how few basic lego pieces I had growing up cause I couldn't built what I wanted, like Death Star Interior rooms. ect. (not enough normal grey bricks!) I always wanted to find a way to make some kind of RP with my legos, I guess there would be a number of ways.

I found that making them into a board game like I mentioned above was the ultimate way to play with them.

Now I just do Minecraft, which does have infinity blocks. But ultimately, until someone makes a mod allowing me to plant an infinite number of imperial stormtrooper NPCs to fight as allies or enemies, Minecraft will not quite be an easy replacement.

Nothing wrong with food!

Sword legion :

We have a lot of basic blocks.  I've been lucky and have managed to pick a lot of our current LEGO collection up for a couple of bucks for a bucket at garage sales, or a gallon ziplock full of them for a dollar or two at the thrift stores.    Its allowed me to put together a relatively large collection of LEGO for my boys fairly cheaply.

Christmas pretty much revolves around collectibles in my family, since all of my sibling's collect figure's of some sort. I got a few Funko Pop's this year, some WWE figure's, Orphan Black merch and some Monster High dolls. All of which went to further my various collections. The Daniel Bryan Funko Pop really surprised me. I've been looking for that for a while now.

About a week before Christmas, somebody that I know gave me a pack of baseball cards as an early gift and that's kind of the only collectibles that I got for the holidays. The pack came with 12 cards an one of them was a pretty valuable autographed card of one my favorite current baseball players so it was actually a great piece to add to my collection that's worth probably one hundred dollars to some people or maybe even more.

I got a whole bunch of Wii U stuff, including the console and 8 games, and I got a Mario amiibo, which I opened up, and I got another one to keep sealed a few weeks later.

I got the new game The Sims 4 which basically completed my set for wanted Sims games besides The Sims 3 expansions. My mom also got me a art book which is helping me almost complete my art set. Very handy, I was able to draw a bunch of cool things.

I got the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th installments to the Pokemon Adventures manga. I got the first installment for Christmas in 2013. I love every single edition, and I hope to get the rest sometime in the future.
