First and foremost, my apologies if a thread like this already exists but I missed it when I looked at all the thread titles. It's almost midnight here, so I'm  rather tired.

But yes, X-Men. Like it, hate it? Do you prefer the comics, the animated series or the movie verse. Or all of it?

And as for the movie verse, which generation do you like the most? The older one or the younger. Personally, the younger generation got me really into it.  I already liked X-Men from when I watched the animated series as a child, and I did watch the movies, but none of them really grabbed my attention like First Class did when I first watched it. James McAvoy made such a charming Charles Xavier in it, he quickly became my favorite character. And Michael Fassbender plays Erik perfectly. I was worried at first for two younger versions of characters I already knew well and was quite familiar with. Whenever I heard 'Professor X' and 'Magneto' being mentioned, I immediately thought of Sirs Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. So, I was really sceptical at first. I knew James McAvoy was a great actor. I'd never heard of Michael Fassbender though, which seems near impossible now : p But for me personally, they've done a perfect job. I wouldn't be able to imagine the younger versions of the characters any other way now.

And Raven/Mystique... my God, Jennifer Lawrence does her wonderfully too, a lot more human than the older Mystique is/was. I must admit I have a huge girl crush on Raven.

Erik... I have mixed feelings about him. I get that he had a horrible past. It's inhuman and awful, the things he's been through. But he lets himself become the thing he claims to hate the most. I can say a lot of things about this, but I'm not sure that would be wise right now, because then I'm probably still typing in half an hour. He's an insensitive bastard. In Days of Future Past, I just wanted to scream at him. Yes, I am the kind of person that gets way too emotionally involved in fictional stuff.  And Erik just makes me so angry. I like him as a character, don't get me wrong. Because I know there's good in him, just like Charles said in First Class. But... damn, he makes it really hard to see that sometimes.

Charles has his faults too, but he's a good person and my heart broke for him in Days of Future Past. It was so sad to see him like that. And there's this deleted scene where he has a conversation with Raven, and it's just heartbreaking to witness. She doesn't understand him at all. She's so fixated on the thought that Charles wants to limit her, but he just desperately wants his sister back. Anyway, yeah, if you haven't seen that scene yet, definitely look it up on YouTube. If you like their sibling relationship.

Days of Future Past is without a doubt my favorite X-Men movie next to First Class. So far. It had all the elements I longed for. Though the movie did leave me hanging with a lot of unanswered questions. Hopefully those will get answered in Apocalypse.

Needless to say I'm very much looking forward to that movie. But I've heard it's going to be the last one, so that's kind of sad... I'm not very familiar with the Apocalypse arc in the comics, but I've read up about it a bit and it seems like that movie could be even better than Days of Future Past : D

I cannot imagine a better comic book movie than one having to do with time travel. Although, I liked The Watchmen (most people didn't) for no other reason than because it took place in an alternate time line where Nixon was elected to a third term. Stay on topic, brain!

I've been a fan of comic books since I was maybe 7 and that's actually quite a while if you look at my age. X-men was never really one of my favorites but at some point I wouldn't mind reading the Days of Future Past Series from the 80's.

Mystique - I also am not a fan of the older actress but I love Jennifer Lawrence in kind of a less than pure way. itachi, one bit of movie trivia that you might find cool - J.Law said in an interview that when she was painted blue on the movie set and had to use the toilet, she'd leave a blue ring on the seat. She started slipping into other cast members trailers and using their toilets when they weren't around. Later, they'd find a blue ring on their seat and realize they'd been Mystiqued.

I really liked the look and feel of the 70's in that movie and enjoyed the Wolverine character the most. I liked how he was surprised to find his claws were still bone. Also, I enjoyed how Magneto wasn't limited by Wolverine's lack of adamantium covered skeleton when fighting him. Magneto still managed to defeat or hold him at bay him with some metal rods.

If you ever get the chance, you should check out The Ultimates story arc. In case you don't know it's Marvels answer to the fanboys complaints that nothing is ever permanent in the comic book world, such as death. In THAT Marvel alternate universe, Wolverine is dead and will stay dead. Guess who killed him and how? It was gruesome... Actually many characters are dead and staying that way in that storyline.

I, like you, could probably talk about all of this stuff for hours but I refuse to get all caught up like that in this thread. So, I'm stopping now...

I watched the first movie and it sucked so I didn't bother with any of the rest. I was already old enough to have lived through the comics so I guess they came too late for me. About the comics. They always seemed too bee too much of a soap opera to me. I especially used to hate the stuff written by Chris Claremont but compared to lots of the stuff that came after him, he maybe was not that bad. I just didn't like the whole eighties feel of the book at that time.

I guess I liked the Wolverine solo-book, especially written by Larry Hama, way much better. That nineties stuff with Jubilee as his sidekick was the best. After the incident with Magneto and admantium it got kind of stale, though. I don't know why. I re-read some of that stuff some time back and some of it were kinda trippy.

I love the X-men and have been a fan for well over 20 years now. I got my first comic when I was about 7 or 8 and I've been hooked ever since.

I was, and still am, really drawn to the character's: their faults, strengths, relationships, etc. My favourite has always been Rogue. Her struggle with her abilities was just so fun to read. Her personality is just awesome. I remember finding out that Anna Paquin would be playing her in X-Men and freaking out. lol A hometown actress portraying my fave X-Men? I was pretty excited.

I've loved all of the movies so far. I was upset by First Class and it's first team of X-Men, and the horrible casting of January Jones as Emma Frost (who is a close second to Rogue), but I still enjoyed the movie. Days of Future Past is definitely my top fave so far...could have used more than 2.5 seconds of Rogue, but it was great.

The cartoon's were great too. I watched all of them and own most of them now. It's hard to choose a favourite out of all of them. Man, I really wish there was a new one in the works. I miss those cartoons. I heard the rumours that there's a live action show being discussed. Who knows if it's true or not, but I'd love to see it happen.

I collect the comic's and have around 800. I haven't collected them in a few years, but I'm looking to get back into it. Same goes for the figures. I have quite a few figures and statues of the Merry Mutants, but I need more. ;p

Hands down my favourite comic series in the franchise was New X-Men. It only ran for 46 issues, but I loved every one. Those students went through a lot. There were some gripping, emotional story arcs, great character's and some really fantastic artwork. I'd love to see some of the students (Nori) make their way into the movies one day. Or maybe even this rumoured show.

Uh... I like the X-Men arcade game... X'D. It has the best writing of any X-Men game ever obviously. No X-Men movie or comic can possibly compare to the epic lines of magneto that include: "X-Chicken!" , "Kill Youuuuuuu" , "Welcome, to DIE" , and my personal favorite, "SHIEELLLD". Every award in anything should go to X-Men arcade game's script. All bow to the holy pinnacle of writing in anything ever.

Itachi_4_ever : I love X-Men. Unfortunately I have only watched the movies and played a couple of the games, so I am not as knowledgeable as I want to be. Also, when it comes to the movies I have only made it through one of the "new" generation movies so I have some catching up to do. Thankfully I still have about a year before the next one premieres so I have a little bit of time.

Now I have a question for you... Who is your favorite of the X-Men?

My favorite, hands down, is Wolverine. Instead of only having one mutant ability he has multiple, and one has been enhanced with unbreakable metal, adamantium,  through intense experimentation where the metal was fused to his bones. How awesome is that!? But wait, there's more. He is able to self-heal practically any injury that he is inflicted with. He also has superhuman senses such as sight, smell, and hearing; superhuman strength, agility, stamina, and reflexes are also in his repertoire of mutant abilities. Oh, and somehow I completely forgot to mention one of his best abilities. He can extract claws out of his frackin' hands! All in all Wolverine is an all out bad a*$.

I did my research for this question!

I love X-Men a lot. I have seen every X-Men movie and have seen quite a few episode of the cartoon. I have also read some of the comics. It has been a big part of my life for well over 12 years now.

DestinyHeroDC : I agree! When I watched the first X-Men, I was blown away...the fact that they took a well-known, popular comic during the 1960's and 1980's; I mean, it's just phenomenal! Bringing characters from the comics such as Wolverine and the evil Magneto, really caught my attention. Now, I admit...I have NOT read the comics yet, but after seeing all the movies so far, I started reading the comics. Now here is some bad news...X-Men 3: The Last Stand, was HORIBBLE. The director, Brett Ratner, did his best to make the finale to the trilogy, but, it could have done a better job! The action is great, yes; but the story was...50/50. Since I don't want to offend any fans of X-Men: The Last Stand, or spoil the plot...I will not reveal my opinion, YET! Maybe next time, I will reveal my thoughts in a thread so be ready! Note that their may be spoilers in my upcoming, future thread! Thanks for reading!
