When I was 8, mostly because people in school we're always saying stuff like ' Santa isn't real it's your mum and dad ' of course at first I didn't believe it, but after a while I found out of course.

When I was 11. Now when I was 10, "Santa" gave me a lot of girly stuff, and as you know if you know me, I hate girly stuff. So when my parents told me that they were Santa, I no longer got mad at Santa, I got mad at my parents for being so ignorant of what I actually like.

My parents told me from the start about Santa, so I never actually believed in him.

Haha, I found out kind of late... My dad still lived with us, so it had to have been 2010 at latest, so it wasn't as long as some of you guys (11, really? Your parents didn't have the heart to tell you a little earlier? xD). I was 9 or 10, most likely. I want to tell the story though. It probably won't be a very long story, but it's a story none the less.

To start this out, it wasn't even around Christmas. It was sometime when we still had school, so early fall, spring, or very early summer is probably when I was told. I will now tell the story, which will include the reason it wasn't around Christmas. Well, my tooth was wiggling for a while (if you can guess how I was told right now, you have an extreme amount of common sense and/or an extremely good guessing ability ). Eventually, like all baby teeth do, it had come time for it to come out. I had reached the age where I pulled my own teeth out, so I had done that and told my parents. They were congratulating me like they always did for something that they shouldn't really have to considering it's a part of growing up xD. They told me I was going to get a visit from the tooth fairy, and I was excited for the extra $2 .

Well, night time came and I put my tooth in an envelope and shoved the envelope under my pillow. Maybe I was staying up later than usual, but I don't remember. I know my brother was already sleeping, so I was probably playing games on my DS. Anyway, since I was probably staying up later, my parents probably thought I would've been asleep by then. I was trying to go to sleep, eyes shut, but then I heard my door slowly creak open. I squinted my eyes, as I wanted to see who it was and what they were doing, but I didn't want to make it obvious that I was awake and watching. It's sort of like how if there's an ax wielding maniac shoving their foot through your door so they can kill you, you hide under your covers so they can't see you .

Well, it was my dad. He came over by my side of the bed. He tried to grab the envelope as quietly as possible, but he's my dad, and dads aren't very quiet anyway . Well, you know how it is when your parent comes in your room to check if you're sleeping. If they are watching you for too long, you just start to laugh, no matter what the reason. I held it in long enough for him to exit the room, close the door, and go downstairs. By then, my laughter sort of went away though, and I woke up my brother to tell him that I didn't think there was a tooth fairy. I told him why, and he decided we should go ask our dad if there was a tooth fairy (we were young, so we thought he wouldn't have known I saw him, we thought he'd think it was a random question xD).

Of course he knew I saw him (how did he know!?!?!) and he told us there was no tooth fairy. He asked us to guess who else wasn't real. My brother didn't want to say it in case he was offending God or something like that (haha), and I didn't want to say it either for the same reason. I half muttered "Santa" and he answered with a half relieved yes. I think he was happy he didn't have to hide it from us, but he also felt kind of bad for it having to be him to tell us. I had a little sister who was 1 or 2, but it wasn't too hard to hide it from her because when you're little, you don't think about "what if" too much.

That was the story about how I found out Santa wasn't real. Just to be clear to anyone who isn't Christian and who doesn't know, St. Nicholas is real, Santa Claus isn't. Little fact, Santa was a myth made up about St. Nicholas because he was a very nice person, followed the commandments, and gave to the poor. Someone a long, long time ago decided to say he still roamed around, giving presents to people who've been good, since he was so generous. Peace .

ZeroTails : But... You are 11 . Haha, your sentence should have said, "This year, and I am 11." I don't want you to take offense to it, I just thought it was kind of funny . Peace .

MCJungleKitty : Your right, I should have said that. I also believed in the tooth fairy even after my parents told me that Santa wasn't real. Not anymore, of course, but for some reason I never believed in the Easter Bunny. I just find that a bit odd about myself. I guess my parents thought I would act like the world has ended even though I was old enough to understand.

MCJungleKitty : I never said you were lying. Anyways, I was a little shocked at first, not gonna lie, but the day was like any other day, me being on the computer, watching YouTube and playing games. Nothing in my life changed, really.

I was about seven  years old when I found out. I happened to get home early Christmas day from little league ball team Christmas party. My I heard the sounds of them entertaining themselves as I walked in and mistook it for them looking for stuff in the attic. The pulled down ladder stairs to the attic was just outside of their bedroom door. You can guess what I discovered once I stood in front of their door looking for the ladder to be down. They got out of bed putting on her dress and his costume.  I was horrified to see my dad putting on a Santa outfit and at that very moment I the house phone rings, which for some reason was in my hand. Well both of them snap around and I take off upset at see a fake Santa, not to mention feeling queasy in the stomach from the other site. I run out the door to hop on my bike and go for a ride when my friend comes by on his. So we take off and I tell him about the fake Santa part. He laughs and says, with a big lop sided grin on his face,  ": My dad and mom always say there is no Santa Claus. He is just a nice person in a suit. Mom and dad get my presents every year." Well needless to say I was devastated because I had just sent out my Christmas Santa wish list letter out the day before. I spent the rest of the day in a depressed mood and did not cheer up until just before our family got there for Christmas dinner. My mom and dad sat down with me and explained that it was just a story for kids to make them be nicer and to add some fun to Christmas. Also to not spoil it for the younger kids that do still believe. After more such sentiment and all I was told it was time to help get the food on the table. I got my part done and turned to my mom to say, " I always wondered why he was dressed in red and white. He looks gross. Like a big pimple that needs to be popped. " Needless to say again here that that was the last response they expected. My father was laughing so hard he had to sit down gasping for breath and holding his side. My mom almost dropped her fresh baked apple pie and was humoring me with polite rebukes of Christmas cheer and trying extremely hard not to burst out laughing herself. That turned out to be a great Christmas in the end but it sucked to start with.

I didn't care if Santa was real. If you were talking about Saint Nicholas, then he is your real Santa. But sadly, he only lived in the 4th century. Having people dress up as Santa at malls and other places is a thing that kids don't know about until their parents tell them about the actual existence of Santa Claus.

I actually used my sense of logic to figure out that Santa Claus wasn't real, and by the time I was 7 years old, I was convinced Santa Claus was a phony. When my mother decided to crack the news to me at age 9, I stared at her, and said, "oh, I know."
She stared at me with a blank look for about a minute....

I knew right from the start that "Santa isn't real" as my parents never did that sort of thing. I always felt superior knowing the shocking truth when I was around kids my age.

It's pretty criminal telling kids that rubbish.

I was 10 or 11 at the least. I don't remember exactly, but it was somewhere around that age. It didn't surprise me that much, because I had possible answers for the questions I had.

Well, I was up in smoke until roughly my 16th Christmas, when I got scolded for being up-in-the-clouds and not helping much for the celebration...
Of course, I wasn't so gullible by that point and knew the truth about Santa, but that was just the breaking point and suddenly, all the faith and joy towards Christmas had vanished... Now, I don't get easily excited about celebrating Christmas or new years eve, but I've learned a good lesson...
The essence of Christmas is to bring people together and to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, and we don't need fictional figures like Santa Claus for that to happen

I was ten years old when I was told by my parents, but I had pretty much figured it out on my own by that point.
