[Resident Evil 2] One of the best stories ever told
[Past Experience] 1998
The Resident Evil series is one of the biggest in existence especially during the 90s. Everyone knows and loves it (even the people on that "Resident Evil 4 through 6 suck because some other people said it and I can't think for myself). Being released in 1998, the year that was one of the biggest for games being released such as Banjo Kazooie and Dragon Saga, Resident Evil 2 completely amazed me and terrified me just as much. Despite being one of my favourite serieses of all time (if not my favourite), this series has always given me nightmares, and the worst I've ever had throughout my entire childhood. I was infatuated with Resident Evil 2 through 3 the same way a 13 year old boy is infatuated with Call of Duty or a 10 year old boy is infatuated with Minecraft. I never finished 2 as it was a game intended for adults, the puzzles are everywhere and not something a child could understand. I was also too afraid to play at night but in the morning (the time of day where seeing Slender isn't the slightest bit scary) it was perfectly fine. I remembered my mother's boyfriend playing this and heard he even called in sick for several days to play it, he finished it and Resident Evil has always followed a stylishly unique formula that never gets old or makes it anticlimactic.
[Menus] President Evillll
The menus are the most famous in Resident Evil's case. You have that epicular voice who says "RESIDENT. EVILL..." There's also that abrasive "A / B" crap you have to put up with where the game changes depending on which one you choose but it never tells you what the difference is. It's one of those things where you have to go online 10 years later and go "OhhhhhhhhH."
[Story] About a cop who's goal is to stop a malignant corporation, not plant drugs on a black guy
Yes. The story is among the very best in existence. You have this corrupt corporation named Umbrella who is a evil pharmaceutical corporation they pretend to be a medical corporation but they're really an evil corporation that is under a guise of a medical pharmaceutical corporation if i remember correctly and they make these monsters called B O Ws that they use for evil, they also created the zombies by using some lab experiments or something so Leon has to stop them, well relunctantly meaning he doesn't want to but he feels he has to because he is trying to do the right thing and help Raccoon City and stop this from happening again in the future even though Umbrella has more variations of itself.
[Graphics]
The backgrounds are all pre-rendered.
[Sound] ADA!!! all day er day
I love the sound of Resident Evil since the very first one. It's one of the best in any game, including music. You have that famous menu sound, the slow firing guns, the melancholy music, etc. I love the boss music too, it sounds very stylish and even contemporary. The intro music was described by the composer as fight for survival.
[Gameplay] Puzzle me this, Batman!
The gameplay is amazers, You start off almost every main Resident Evil game choosing which gender you want to be, if you choose male, you get Chris, Leon, Piers or Jake. If you choose female, you get Jill, Claire, Leon, Sheva, Sherrie or Helena. In this case, it's Leon and Claire. It's a 2 disc game, with Disc 2 being Claire. Leon has his own scenario as does Claire, being on opposite ends of the truck that started the fire, they have their own path before meeting together several times through the campaign. There's a menu with the character's portrait drawn in this western anime style (which looks cool), it has this health meter thingy that you see in hospitals: Fine / Caution /  Danger / Poison, when it goes to poison you use a blue herb, ironically using a blue herb when not poisoned makes you poisoned. You see marijuana plants all over the town inside and out of buildings as well, you pick those up to smoke them and they give you health, if you combine them with a red herb they make you extra high and you get full health. Unfortunately there are no mushrooms here that make you super duper extra high and you think you're 20 feet tall crushing pie monsters and flying turtles.
[Controls] Awk-waaaaard!
Resident Evil is famous for it's tank-style controls that they used all the way up to 5 (which came out in 2008 @0@) before finally removing it for something modernized that made sense. You can't walk diagonally or strafe, you can only walk forward and backward while turning. This I think was done to make the game more intimidating and tensioned. It's one of those things that works perfectly naturally for the indigenous games.
[Stability]
This game is chalk full of bugs. Literally, you'll see giant mutant moths/spiders/other animals and bugs. As for glitches, I've personally never seen one but but you'll find glitches for any game ever made if you look on GoogleTube, that site that became so buggy that it kind of stopped working because of how Google made it, still waiting for you YaTube.
[Difficulty]
There are difficulties, easy and normal. I always choose normal though because it's the standard, optimized experience. Easy is for babies and hard is for posers. I am not a baby nor a poser, I am Groot.
[Depth] Don't forget to bring a map and pack a lunch
These games are mayassive and this game's no exception. You start out in the infested streets of Raccoon city and you travel everywhere. Such as the sewer, buildings, Umbrella's facility, etc. It is quite the pre-rendered adventure.
[Content] Capcom = Lame Costumes
If it's Capcom it's uncool costumes you'll never want to wear. Although Resident Evil 1 had this hawesome Ragina costume (The Kim Kardashian butt character from Dino Crisis).
[Replayability] Do it for Claire
You can replay this many, many times. Want a better rank? A faster completion time? Costumes? Secrets? Exploration? A harder difficulty? Cure for boredom? Nostalgia? Claire? Then you'll be playing this a lot, as big as this game already is it's now twice as big if you play as Cheeky Claire.
[Enemies] The female zombies are too adurable
Zombies, B.O.W.s, stalkers, stalkers (literally), animals, etc.
[Bosses] This is not even my final form!
Giant mutant zombie animals, G-Virus zombies (tyrants), etc.
[Puzzles] Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Alpha Omega Super Duper Hyper Ex + Accent Core
The newer ones do have puzzles thankfully so it's not that dumbed down Call of Duty crap that every little boy can play easily. When it comes to puzzles 2 was the heaviest, they were everywhere and were definitely hard to solve. 3 had puzzles too but they were easy, nothing wrong with that as long as they're there, but then again 4 had the easiest puzzles of all time, I guess that's okay? I mean I literally solved a puzzle by pressing X 5 times so you see what I mean, but whever, as long as they're not those impossible God of War puzzles, I literally got stuck on one for an entire week before solving it. You have to do stuff here like pushing statues, using your lighter, turning valves, attaching cranks and levers to stuff, finding and using keys, using cards, placing gems and medallions, etc. There is no puzzle difficulty like Silent Hill has but as long as they're not impossible then it's hokay.
[Trivia] Resident Easter Eggs
The first draft of this had a woman named Elza instead of Claire. She wore a motocross outfit too. You start in a big office building from the looks of it and the story is different, if I remember correctly Ada is a scieintist who works for the building instead of a spy for Wesker. I've gone through tons of changes like this in my movie, things get better over time so this was just a draft, AlphaOmegaSin however goes ape**** over how Capcom never released any part of this, so fans somehow hacked this and are finishing it on their own. It was 85% finished too, so quality was the concern here. It would have been nice if Capcom finished that extra 15% and released it in a special edition of Resident Evil 2, or 3, or 4, etc. or at the very least just left it at 85% and included it as a endgame bonus for RE2 or 3 but you know how Crapcom is, they went bankrupt for a reason. the pilot for the S.T.A.R.S. team, Vickers gets moydud in the first one either by a zombie in the mansion. So you see here as an easter egg. The way to see him is (if I rumumbur correctly) to make it to the police station without shooting any zoms. It makes him appear under the bridge and he takes more shots to kill. When you moyduh him you go in the police station and somewhere under a staircase you'll see a room with Harry Potter and a locker. Open the locker and you get a new costume, I can't remember what they're of. WHAT IF I TOLD YOU... CAPCOM IS MAKING A REMAKE OF A REMAKE. Capcom is remaking all 3 of the original Resident Evils, starting with 1. Why? To see if people will buy. If 1 doesn't sell well they aren't going to remake 2 and 3. I'm interested in 2 and 3 only like everyone else though so this could be a porblem. It's not like a huge reboot like the last REmake was though (the new 2 and 3 better be though or I'm not wasting time / money on them for something I've already seen), it's just gonna be upscaled to a high resolution, widescreen, better textures, better models, better lighting/shading, better environments, have new content and be available on PS2.5, XBONED and PC, only having it on the Gamecube was a **** idea and they wondered why they had such poor sales, at least we got Resident Evil 4, that's where it's sales came from, the PS2 version. There is a mod for this on Fallout 3. It looks a lot like Raccoon City but with ghouls. If you have the non-console peasant version of Fallout 3 (why wouldn't you?) then you get to play this mod. A big fan REmake is coming, this one is a 3D version of Resident Evil 2, so it looks very intersting, it's being made like an indie game, it has donations I think, I can't remember if it's on Kickstarter, but if I were to put up a frivelous Kickstarter where I was asking for money to complete a Simpsons every season on DVD collection I would make between 40,000 to 60,000. Don't believe me? Look up the guy who asked for $10 to make a salad and ended up making $60,000. There's no law or rule that says the creator has to use the money for what they pledged, they can spend all the money on a single night of a strip club and the donators are the ones at fault. Anyway, this REmake isn't finished, it's nowhere close, it has a small indie team working on it, they put up videos on GoogleTube so go watch that, I forgot his Google + name so just type in "Resident Evil 2 remake sponsored by Google +". and if you don't type in the Google + part Google will filter your results to only show you Chrome and Android ads. Not to worry though Resident Evil 7 is coming and it's gonna be scury like teh old ones, RE is my favourite franchise from 1-6 and whether they make it horror or action I'll always love it.
[Rating] Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil Poo!
9/10 | 10/10 For both the draft and full versions Capcom hid for some stupid *** reason
