Zombiegone : It's Five Nights at Freddy's. In my opinion, it's scarier than Slender. The jumpscares of each Animatronic are terrifying as well. The doors (FNAF 1) are the only mean of defense, use them wisely, because you have limited power. The Freddy (Ferdy ) Mask is the only mean of defense (FNAF 2). I clicked Esc in the middle of Night 2 because I was too scared . I saw many videos of FNAF gameplay, and saw the jumpscares, and those freaked me out

Either Amnesia: The Dark Descent or SCP: Containment Breach. The first is one of the most well-known horror games, and it was terrifying to play through the first time, especially in the dark. It's atmospheric and generally really scary. SCP is an indie game based off of the SCP Foundation website, made in an engine called Blitz 3D. It's buggy, and the graphics aren't great, but it's surprisingly great at making things tense and scary! The monsters being contained at the SCP Foundation have escaped, and you are a test subject who has to find their way out. There's lots of exploring and atmospheric silence. The game is very difficult, in my opinion, however - I've never gotten to the end before.

I have to say Friday the 13th for Nintendo. I remember jumping when Jason popped out. And when that music kicked on right at the right moments. If you never played this game use your vizz for it. Turn off the lights and get ready for a good old spooky time.

Both me and greenluigi are HUGE Five Nights at Freddy's fanatics. Because, one, the game can be very terrifying if you play it how I do. I play it in complete darkness with headphones on and the volume all the way up. Another factor of why we like this series is the story to it. It's just magnificent. So, the Five Nights at Freddy's series is the scariest series I have ever played. But, if you want to get specific, then Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is the scariest out of them all, in my opinion.

Man, most people are saying Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill (The first one)  was WAY more scary then 2 (IMO). Still freaky though... And 3.

Anyways, I gotta say the most intense scary game I've played would be Haunting Ground for the PS2. I hate when something is chasing you, and you can't fight it, you just have to run, forever always must running. And everything that chases you is so damn creepy... I love it how sometimes you'll sneak up on them, and they're doing super creepy stuff... The entire game was made to give you a heart attack. But it's one of the best looking PS2 games out there.

Oh, and Fatal Frame II. I tried playing it on the X-Box in FPS mode, had to quit that after about 10 minutes... Too damn scary.

Kuon is also kind of creepy, but it's scarier because the controls are pretty awkward.

And Holy crap, yeah. That part in Resident evil 2, with the Licker gets me every time also... Even when I know it's coming, I still jump. One time, I had paused it, saw him in the air, about to break the glass, so I caught my breath, unpaused, and still screamed... I hate that part.

When I was a kid watching my older brother play Resident Evil was very nerve racking , that was my first experience with the survival horror blood and gore scene and the tone of that game was so frightening my young mind didn't know what to think of it.

It takes quite a bit to make me jump these days when it comes to video games but playing Dead Space or it's 2 sequels in the dark with headphones on always does the trick.

Do not even get me started the scariest game I have ever played is The Legend of Zelda: Faces of Evil for the CDi this game was fudging horrifying every time I see that abomination of link stretch his arms and say "Gee it sure is boring around here" I want to fudging break my computer. But I guess it is not all bad I still am able to find a good character who does not care about how anything is doing all he cares about is whats for dinner so the games at least has some relief until it kicks the horror back up.

I'm serious it is so bad that I'm afraid of it.

I usually don't play horror games, And I've never played one. But the scariest game I have ever played is Minecraft.
What's so scary about it? You may ask. Well, for one reason, its 3D. And I'm scared when I can't see my enemies till I turn. and BOOM, a creeper explodes right in your face.
And that's why, gentlemen, why Minecraft's the scariest game I have ever played.
BOOM!!!

I would have to say the scariest game would have to be Resident evil 2 when it first came out. When I would play it, I would turn the radio off, turn the lights off and just focus. Nothing like having a great atmosphere to lose yourself in a survival horror game. When you are lost in it and that Licker comes out of nowhere. Yeah, that is what I am talking about. Fear in a game is all about atmosphere. Take the scariest game and play it in the light, loses the fear factor.

It is pretty freaky when you are trying to play Five Nights at Freddy's, even though the characters are not scary, the time you let your guard down is the time you will scream when a jump scare hits.

Well I haven't played many scary games but I don't find quite anything scary at all. The only thing I played that would be considered scary would be some of the zombie games like The walking dead or Silent Hill. I didn't even find them quite scary though. I watched many play throughs of 5 nights of Freddy's and even that wasn't scary so in awe I think I just have tolerance.

I played a lot of horror games, mostly the Resident Evil series. I'm talking about the Resident Evil games before the 4th installment. But even so I found Clock Tower 3 to be the scariest game I played as a kid. It was one those games I loved to play in the dark. I got to say the very first boss called Sledgehammer was pretty scary especially when the cut scene showed him taking a young girls life with his gigantic hammer. When he was done with the little girl, Sledgehammer starts to chase you every chance he got. Why ? He wanted me to be his next victim. This scene caused me to have nightmares but despite that I still wanted to play.

I don't play a lot of scary games such as the horror genre. However there is one game that really creeped me out here on vizzed, and that was LSD: Dream emulator for the PS1. That game has you exploring a dream world, and some of the stuff you find in those dreams can be scary such as corpses, and some stalker who follows you around at certain times. While I'm sure there are scarier games out there, that's the scariest one I've played.

Oh man, if anyone's even heard of this they're gonna think I'm weird. *sigh*

Anyway, the scariest game I've ever played (so far) has been this WEIRD PS2 game called Baroque.  It's not  labeled as a horror game, more as a dungeon crawler, but once you start it, the creepy atmosphere changes your mind pretty quickly.

Essentially you're this guy who used to have a twin, but your twin was murdered so you could live and 'fix' the world you live in. You have induced amnesia (original, right, I know) that prevents you from remembering ANYTHING other than what the "Archangel" -- aka the guy who is in charge of this weird place -- has told you: That the world is broken, it is your fault, and you have to fix it by going into the Neuro Tower, purifying these weird monsters called Meta Beings, and killing god so the world will reset.

Doesn't sound creepy, does it? Weeeeell...that's the idea. You hear all this and then you step out into the world itself, and you SEE that it is broken. People who look like something out of Silent Hill mixed with Shin Megami Tensei are everywhere, most of them mad and babbling nonsense that still offers you clues as to how to save them, and all of them just as broken as the dark and decrepit world you have to run around.

You get a gun-blade sword  called the Angelic Rifle and head for the tower, which is RANDOMLY GENERATED EVERY TIME YOU ENTER IT, and have to fight your way to the basement, going up against monsters that, again, look like Silent Hill crossed with Shin Megami Tensei...only much less friendly than the people above you. You have a limited inventory, and only at certain points are you allowed to pull things from it to send back to the surface through the use of giant pulsing balls called Consciousness Orbs, so you will have them when you restart the tower run, because you WILL die and restart. A lot. It's actually how the plot
advances. You die and the plot continues. You don't die and everything stagnates.

Every time you restart, you lose all your levels and everything in your inventory that wasn't already sent back to the surface. Everything. The only things that are left are the events you've unlocked in the tower; they will advance to the next event if you find the room again.

Along the way you are tasked with freeing these things that look like half-formed fetuses with wings. They're called Littles and they are the embodiment of pain. Every time you free them or kill the things they're running from, the plot advances.

Every so often you will enter a room that offers you clues as to who you are, why you can't speak, and why you can't remember anything. Most of these involve seeing the ghost of your twin, who goes from a child all the way up to the young adult that YOU are as they  try to help you regain your memories and your true purpose.

Eventually you will make it to the bottom of the Neuro Tower, where you will find the Archangel IMPALED on a GIANT Consciousness orb, and he implores you to kill god so that everything will be reset. If you enter the orb,  you are transported to where god is: a giant dark room where a woman is chained to the wall. She is babbling nonsense and is clearly in pain, though when she sees you, she regains sanity and asks to join with you.

You have a choice. You can kill her and the world will reset, but only to the point of the beginning of the game. Everything is still broken...the monsters just got harder and the Neuro Tower just got deeper.

However, if you fuse with her, you become one, your twin's consciousness comes back to life, and you regain your voice, as the god took it when the world broke in an attempt to get you to come to her. You also find out that you were not the cause of the breaking. With the fusion, the world is still distorted, but instead of wiping everything out, you and the god decide to accept the distortion for what it is, and the world becomes livable again, people losing their madness and becoming free.

Just hearing the plot doesn't really make it seem scary, but when you're in game, in this silent-hill like dungeon surrounded by distorted Meta Beings and people who you HAVE to depend on to get further along despite their rising, dangerous insanity and the desire to see you dead...it's creepy. And frightening once you start realising some of the more subtle aspects of the plot. I left a lot out in that synopsis to keep from spoiling everything; the result is just that there's so much less creep than is in the actual game.

I do highly recommend that people find and play this game if they can. It's STUPID-hard to find, though, as it never sold well in the US and I don't think Atlus did much with it. Yes, it's a dungeon crawler, but it has so many twists and turns in the story that inevitable death isn't frustrating, as that is how things advance...and after a while, you forget it is a crawler, because stuff gets real and gets terrifying REAL FAST after you die a couple of times.

I don't know if it qualifies as "scary" but the original Diablo has a pretty creepy atmosphere. It could scare you at times, especially when a horde of enemies suddenly come picking on you after a long moment of silence. Also, all this blood pouring out of enemies was a novelty in 1996.

I have played a fair share of horror and atmospheric horror games and the only two (technically three) games that I have actually gotten scared on playing were the Amnesia games (hence the actually 3 part) and Outlast. Amnesia just makes you think you are scared and with the camera doing what the camera does it makes you feel more into the world. It is more atmospheric horror though. Outlast on the other hand. It does jump scares right. I screamed out loud in like the first 5 minutes and had to quit playing after the dead body swung in front of me at the library. I love being scared though so I went back and played it through. BTW, if anyone says FNAF I will hunt you down.

I don't play a lot of horror games, I get scared easily enough in regular games but I think it would have to be the first Silent Hill, I was nine when it came out and I first played it and even in the living room with the lights on with my sister we would still freak out over every little thing.

There is an entire series that scared the heck out of me. Unfortunately one of the games in the series I haven't played yet, and the crazy thing is, I have owned it for over a year. The series I am speaking of is Bioshock. The random people that jump out and attack you and the freaky noises they all make is quite scary. Add in the creepy little sisters and the intimidating big daddies and it takes the terror to a-whole-nother level.

Another game that scare the daylights out of me is Resident Evil 5. This game had so many different mutations of zombies added with the fact that you still couldn't move at the same time as you were shooting made getting surprise ambushed by zombies frackin' terrifying.
