How would parents react to you dating or being with someone of another ethnicity?

I think my parents would strongly dislike me dating a woman who was black or Indian.  I don't think they would mind Asian or Polynesian.  Call them old timers.
How would your parents react?  What would they say or do?

My parents don't care who I date as I'm old enough to know what I'm doing with another man's body (or woman, depending what side of the bed I wake up on in the morning).

As for ethnicity~ They shouldn't care as my dad is African/black and my mother is English/white

My parents wouldn't approve me dating someone of another ethnicity at all. They are so into their cultures and religion to the point of not opening their minds to other people from other ethnicities (I mean this is America where you see different kinds of people who have different descendents world-wide). I am disappointed that my parents care about skin color and races when it's really that the inside and happiness are what counts. I remember that I was dating a guy from another ethnicity before and my mother didn't approve of him at all. She yelled me at me for making the "wrong" decision.

I don't mind dating someone from my own ethnicity but I don't see myself marrying someone from my own ethnicity since I can't speak my native language fluently. I am sticking to being in an interracial relationship in the future when that chance happens again.

To those who are in more than two races or who have parents who don't care about physical characteristics and appearances, I envy you!

Good question, I think my parents would most likely react like any parent does, they would want the details and the facts about this sort of thing. They wouldn't be intrusive about it, but like any normal parent, they would want to know the person I am dating and whatnot. My parents aren't concerned with things like culture or ethnicity when it comes to dating because it just isn't important to them, what matters more is the type of person I am dating over anything else. 

For the most part though, dating doesn't interest me at the moment, I would at least like to finish high school and college before getting serious about it. On the way though, I might date someone, but I find it highly unlikely. I'm not the type of teenager that gets hyped about dating other people and getting involved in relationships, I'm far too young for that, although it might be good practice for the future, I will decide when the time comes. 

My Mom is very laid back, she doesn't care about race or ethnicity. Now my Dad however, is another story. He said he'd disown me if I ever dated anyone who was not white. Which is strange since he's Native American. I never cared about his opinion anyway so I just date whomever I want. I'm an adult now so I have more control over who I date and stuff, but when I was a teenager, it was different, but even then, my Mom was always more supportive of me and my decisions. My Dad is pretty much the type of person who has to control everyone and everything. =/

My parents wouldn't care about race at all. But if I was to date right now they would freak out. They are completely against teenage dating in any form. And to be honest I don't blame them completely. They would also not be happy if I dated someone of another religion at all. But my dad did say that whenever I get to be eighteen he'll support whatever decision I make fully.

My parents are rather open-minded, so they would not care at all, just so long as the person is not a bad influence, they would not care. Obviously if I were dating a total meth-head they would probably be at least a little bit concerned, or a leader of a crime syndicate, but I do not think that will be happening anytime soon (if at all). 

My mom wouldn't care about the race at all, all she would care about is the person is not a bad influence. While I don't spend much time with my dad, he's probably the same. Honestly, I can't tell if they care about me dating now, since I don't talk to my dad much, and my mom constantly nags me about having a boyfriend and such =3= In the end though, as long as the person I end up dating isn't a terrible influence, they don't mind.

Not sure how my parents would react to me bringing a boyfriend home, especially at this age, but they certainly wouldn't care about his race. In matters like that they are pretty open-minded thankfully. But then again their mix race themselves so it would be a little hypocritical of them to look down agaisnt it, but you never know when it comes to things like that. I'm glad that this is one thing I know they won't care about when I start dating.

My parents are luckily the parents who accept many things and although they might be surprised when I would bring somebody like an Asian or African girl here they would accept it I think. Just like the others, they would rather look if the person has a bad influence on me. 

They wouldn't care they would probably encourage it to be honest and you have to learn things or else later on you will be a noob so its better sooner than later  

My parents wouldn't really care as long as I find someone who wouldn't take advantage of me or anything. They're pretty easy going people. As long as I'm not getting into trouble.

My parents would probably alert my entire family and all my cousins would come out and celebrate.

Believe it or not that might not be an exaggeration. My family is crazy enough to do something like that.

But in all seriousness, I don't think they would mind, as long as it's a healthy, nonabusive one (which I don't expect it to be).

It's actually strange because now that I think about it I haven't got the faintest clue. But if I had to guess I don't think it would be an issue as long as the person speaks the same language. I've had some friends in the past who didn't speak Finnish and while my parents weren't upset about it I on the other hand felt a bit down because they could never really have any conversations. If I really fall in love with someone I'm not going to care about the language barrier, but it would still upset me a bit if the person couldn't ever have a proper conversation with my dad.

I don't think that they'd really care. I can't really think of any of them who would really say anything at all. Though If I dated someone who was skinny. . . and black. . . I might get teased a little bit. XD

I must say though that I am more attracted to people of the same "race" or whatever more. I don't know why people would get upset over stuff like that, I mean, it's all personal preference, and not racist. It the same as saying I prefer someone with black hair rather than blond hair, (I honestly don't care about that though).

Sword legion : I say 'ethnicity' because we're all in the human race.  And there are so many mixed relationships and babies that people aren't one race or another.  We are mixed ethnicities and social backgrounds, though.  That's the difference.

Well, I am already married, so I can't really find out (not that I would want to anyway).
I am not 100% sure as to what the reaction would have been back when I was in high school though. My family often was on and off constantly with their prejudice views. There were times my mom thought that it was just weird to be attracted to someone of a different color. Not wrong, just odd. But my whole family usually had constant prejudice on "Mexicans". Really, anyone of Latin descent were "Mexicans" to them. They always viewed them as trouble makers, lazy, and adhered to the stereotypes. I think that they would not approve if I dated someone of that ethnicity. But at the same time, I don't think they would be vocal about it. I would be safe to assume I would get jokes about it. But again, that was back when I was in high school. Not sure if that would hold true now.

My parents don't care once so ever as long as shes not to old or young and aso she has to be christian which i agree with.

My parents are so protective over me. I mean, they just don't get it....A sandwich gotta go out there and meet other sandwiches. I a beautiful melt with Spinach, Tomato, Avocado and Ham. She was so pretty I could eat her up! (figure of speech...a sandwich eating another sandwich is weird.......) But my mother didn't approve one bit. She told me my girl just wanted my cucumbers,which is completely false. My father is called "The head cheese" because he has a bunch of deli meats on him, and said that I should meet someone who looks less appetizing than I do, like American cheese and turkey on white... You guys understand what it's like for a BLT, right?
