This has been a topic I have wanted to bring up but I never really knew where to ask this. Basically everyone knows that vizzed has a youtube channel where you can submit videos to the channel that are from the retro game room. This is something that (for the most part) has worked out. People can edit the description/title to make it whatever they want, to personalize it, which I agree is a good thing.

But one thing I think should be important is the quality of the videos on the channel. I feel like if you are recording gameplay/walkthrough/music/etc from the retro game room then there should be some rules to keep the video looking professional.

In my own opinion if were going to submit a video to the Vizzed youtube you should have to abide by the following rules:

1)Record the game from either:
A) The in-game recorder from the retro game room plugin.
B) A recording software that does not hinder the video by adding a watermark (Ex. Unbought Bandicam) or a FPS counter(This is ususally a setting that can be turned off).

2)Do not record from a camera/camcorder/iphone because this hinders the quality of the video, even if it is from your own system, the channel is supposed to show the RGR in the Vizzed website.

3) Keep the content PG. This is something that isn't an official rule but I feel should be implemented because of the family friendly aspect of the Vizzed site.


This is just a couple rules I think should be in place as the channel will grow more by people not being distracted by the lack in quality of some videos compared to others.

(Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone important hears it.)

I felt scared seeing this thread, but I need to point out why my videos look bad in quality. It is not my camera as it records good quality, but more like the YouTube site compressing my videos into horrible quality even though they look good. I don't have a computer for myself at all so if you say that we iPod users can't record videos to Vizzed, well, I need to say this:

How would I be able to have proof for my speedruns or even be able to show what I like to show, like some glitches?

Just needed to get it over with. Well, games that can't really be played on Vizzed need to be recorded via a source that doesn't mess the video up.

I have decent video quality when I look in my iPod camera roll. Sorry, but you should probably blame YouTube for destroying all the quality from my videos because of compressing. They only have 144p, 240p, and 360p for most videos here, and nothing we can do for those who need an iPod to record.

stevie 764 is right, youtube has compressing rules and if we load better video quality it will take about 1 hour (Internet speed included). People use freemake to cut and make it into mp4 all because we can't buy expensive editing tools. I seen like many good free editing tools features that are not included in the $100+ editing tools, that says a lot. I don't know why people use phones to play, its confusing to me as to how they can play games without hitting their phones . I agree with the PG videos part we need a way to keep videos clean in vizzed games because right now anyone can upload a video with bad stuff (grand theft auto advance). 

Stevie 764 : I'm not pointing out anyone in particular because there are multiple people producing stuff like that. I just feel like the videos on the channel should be more consistent. As its a channel for the Vizzed site and RGR in particular, I feel like it should represent it and not just be another outlet for people to show off their speedruns/glitches etc. It's just my own opinion. I think it's great if people want to record from their own consoles, I just feel like it downgrades Vizzed as a whole to see people filming from a camera/camcorder/iphone.

I know many people will dissagree with me because it wouldn't allow some users to post on the channel, but I feel like it will help produce better content and help the channel grow.

Ddog282 : I will explain why I have to record from my iPod:

1. I don't have a computer that works for myself.
2 (Important!) I am recording videos for games that can't be played in the RGR.

This applies to GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS, and other consoles that aren't in the RGR.

I do apoligize, but getting a capture card costs more than $50, but even then, the compression by YouTube destroys those $50+ capture card quality in many ways so what would I rather do, get a capture card for like $100, or be able to record from my iPod for $0.00? Can't waste money on capture card if the compression "hinders" my videos. Also, there are games like "Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine" that I can only access from the GameCube "Sonic Mega Collection" and even others. Again, I'm sorry if I get my facts wrong. This would cause me to stop all my vizzed YouTube uploads and works if these rules were to be allowed.

Again, I can't get a computer for myself for a LONG time. Plus, I'm not going to deal with Google+, but more like Stalkle---. (Again, I am sorry.)

I agree with this. The only way to enforce this is to have someone constantly watching over the channel, though. So it is a good idea, but it will be difficult to carry it out.

tgags123 : It would be fairly easy to enforce it as long as someone has the password to log onto the channel. I would be willing just because I manage my own channel every day anyway, so it would be easy to delete uploads that shouldn't be there. The problem is I don't know if people would still be getting their Viz or not for uploading.

Ddog282 : Then why is there an option to add videos that aren't RGR then . It would be called Vizzed RGR youtube. Not Vizzed Gaming...

mourinhosgum : Good point. I forgot that the VGR Games have that option as well. But i still feel the need to say if someone can't put out a good quality video than it shouldn't be on the channel. That's just an opinion though.

This shouldn't be something that is happening. The Channel needs to be watched over.

Davideo7 : Hey I'm summoning you to this thread. Mainly Because the channel already got taken down once over copyright stuff and I think you should be aware of the two examples I posted earlyer.

Ddog282 : Someone mentioned this and I didn't know what they were talking about. I know it's not the reason the channel shut down, but it very well could become a reason in the future. I had seen that second video you posted, and I actually assumed it's a clip thrown into the actual game. Even it it was, our videos should focus more on the actual game play and not cut scenes.

I guess I've always just assumed people were using the plugin to record and load game videos. I didn't even know people were doing things other than this, and I agree it's a bit weird. When I saw that second video, I was thrown for a loop because I haven't taken the time to explore the channel.

Honestly though, David has enough to do on his hands.

play4fun is the youtube channel manager, so it's probably him you should discuss these ideas with. He's probably aware of it and working on it / thinking about it already though. He's just one person, so it might be taking some time.

Singelli : Well now I feel stupid. I didn't know we had a specific person managing the Youtube. I thought David managed the youtube stuff along with the website because he's the one who talks about it in the announcement and such. Oh wells. Now I look like an idiot for summoning him. xD

Ddog282 : oh the channel is OWNED by David.  It's just that play4fun will be managing it. lol  The position was only created recently, so don't feel too bad about it.
