Davideo7 : I'm in! Do enemies count?

New rule: Hacked and homebrew games do not count because that would be too easy.

I've also updated the rules a little and updated the details of the cash bonus.

If they're in their tiny form that's fine, as long as you can still make out who is who.

mourinhosgum : A staff member will have to go in and fix that.

Fireproof : If it generates random characters than it probably shouldn't count.

I'm defining a Character as anyone from a game that has a name and is not randomly or user generated.

If you can fit 20 different enemies in a single screenshot than yeah, go ahead and do so.

I've added a rule where hacks do not count.

awesomeguy279 : Yeah that's fine. Every character shows either what franchise they are from or which game they originate from. If it's the same character than it can be used.

Singelli : Lately I've been letting staff take the cash prizes which means the staff are elligible for the cash prizes in this competition

MechaMento : Currently no because I don't want someone to add a bunch of fake characters or add a bunch of wrong info for a bunch of characters. It's no problem at all though, just make a big list and the staff can add the characters with little effort.

madison : I'll come up with a way to allow non staff to add characters.

Now I know why my counter went down so much.

tyranit : There are so many hacked Pokemon games and with each Pokemon game containing 100s of characters, that would be abused in no time. I was almost even tempted to not include all Pokemon games since they have so many characters in them.

"-If more than 75% of your tagged characters are in games where others have tagged the same characters, than you are not eligible for the cash prizes"

So basically nobody is going to get a cash prize. People can see what the last 30 or so games the top-point-having people have played and then "copycat" them, tagging the same stuff. So we're all at the mercy of other people.

Edit: It also doesn't help that the obscure characters aren't taggable, so you basically have to tag the popular stuff.

madison : Bear with me, I'm adding rules as this competition progresses to help make things fair. The 75% rule shouldn't be that big of a problem, especially since there are 40,000+ games in the Retro Game Room. I just wanted to avoid having everyone doing the same games.

I do plan to make it so that users can add missing Characters, it's just a matter of me figuring out how to go about it and than spending the time to code that feature.

Davideo7 : OK, I'm probably overreacting because it's the first full day of the competition and everyone is all doing the "obvious" games at first.

Awesome, now we can add the characters that are missing!

What I meant was, is there any particular thread or page of some sort that we post the screen shots onto [ and also, although I didn't bother asking before, now that I've taken some screen shots, how do I even access them?]


Edit: found the page that tells me how to do the crossed off part, and by the time you people read this, will probably have figured the rest out.

I don't get it, why I lose like 10 points and cant add the majority of names coming from rare names...

heck not even famous enemies like Geemers are on the name list, also WHAT?_? > Samus Aran [TETRIS]?


EDIT: I didn't read response to last post before typing original...  thanks for responding, I has been doing it with some games, but I think I will just take my time off until the rules and everything is fully set in stone.

I have a question about the bonus rule. Well, I just want to know if I have it right:

If I am the only one to tag a well-known character like Mario on obscure games that no one else has tagged, Will it count towards the bonus? Mario is bound to be tagged by just about everyone in this contest, so I'm guessing it's the obscurity of the actual game that counts.

mourinhosgum : You just type the name of the character and submit it regardless of whether they appear in the character name box? So if I type "Goomba [Mario]" it will work just fine?

Congo! : I don't understand what you mean by that. You mean when you tag a character? Or when you add one to the site

New Rule: Only screenshots which have a rating of 3 or higher count.

By default, every screenshot's rating is 3 so don't get too worried. I figured this was a good rule to add so that we don't get a bunch of bad or pointless screenshots taken.

Congo! : That would count toward your bonus.

mourinhosgum : On the screen where you tag characters. The "edit screenshot" menu.

Congo! : Yes it would. Since non staff added characters don't appear in the drop down menu

Davideo7 : I saw that I can't add Yu-Gi-Oh characters. Can that be fixed?

tyranit : You can't? What error are you getting?

mourinhosgum : Non staff characters should appear in the drop down menu, do a hard refresh to see the most up to date list of characters.
