Jobs for FFTA(1)
All of you slackers are probably thinking that jobs are evil, which they can be, but in the world of Ivalice, they are necessary for your survival (much like in the real world...). Each race has its own strengths and weaknesses, and can perform jobs that reflect their specialties. There are a total of 34 jobs in FFTA, divided into two groups: Normal Jobs and Expert Jobs. Learning a certain amount of Action Abilities from a couple of Normal Jobs is required in order to gain an Expert Job. If you want to learn more about each job and its functions, continue reading, even if you hate it. Soldier Race: Human This is the standard Human Job of all Jobs. Soldiers don't do anything overly spectacular but they can certainly hang with the tough guys. Paladin Race: Human This job focuses on defense, with some pretty decent offensive stats; however, Evade is fairly low. In order to become a Paladin you must master two of the Soldier's A - abilities. Fighter Race: Human One of the best offensive professions in the entire game! Fighter abilities that are capable of taking out an enemy in a single, bone-shattering hit. To become a badass Fighter you must master two Soldier A-abilities. Thief Race: Human; Moogle Stealing is wrong in the real world, but in Ivalice, it is a great way to get rare items. No prerequisites required~! Ninja Race: Human Mastering two Thief A-abilities will allow you to become a Ninja. This is one of the fastest jobs you can get, plus the offensive abilities are great! White Mage Race: Human; Nu Mou; Viera White Mages specialize in recovery and defense while focusing mainly on Holy-based healing spells. Think Rosa (FFIV), or for the newer generation of gamers, Yuna (FFX). Black Mage Race: Human; Nu Mou; Moogle Black Mages focus solely on offensive magic but they have very low Defense and they flat out suck with weapons. Keep them away from the battlefield so they can do more damage than they receive. Illusionist Race: Human; Nu Mou Illusionists rock because their spells are not only insanely powerful, but they deal damage to all enemies, a definite plus. In order to become one of these magically delicious mages, you must master three White Mage A-abilities. Blue Mage Race: Human This job can either be very useful (Quistis, anybody?) or depressingly useless (*cough* Kimahri *cough*); it all depends on how often the character engages in battle, and luck. Master one White Mage A-ability and one Black Mage A-ability to become one of these. Archer Race: Human; Viera Obviously, Archers excel at long ranged attacks, making them very valuable to your party. A good Archer can take out an enemy with a single shot. Hunter Race: Human Think of Hunters as Archers with a different set of skills and a better Weapon Attack ranking; become one of these bad boys by mastering two Archer A-abilities. You should also note that Hunters are the only class capable of capturing monsters. Warrior Race: Bangaa Warriors are the Bangaa's answer to Soldiers, the only difference being their superior offensive stats. Dragoon Race: Bangaa Mastering two Warrior A-abilities will create a spear-wielding Dragoon. Their Weapon Attack rating is super high, and as you might have guessed, their specialty includes slaying dragons. Defender Race: Bangaa Defenders are great for bodyguard and decoy work, as their name suggests. Master two Warrior A-abilities to become one. Gladiator Race: Bangaa Gladiators use offensive magic and are unable to equip the heaviest types of weapons or armor. Master two Warrior A-abilities to get your own personal Bangaa version of Russell Crowe! White Monk Race: Bangaa White Monks are well balanced and have a knack for eliminating the undead via the Exorcise ability. Definitely a useful profession. Bishop Race: Bangaa Bishops possess a nice variety of offensive magic and healing spells, but their speed is not the greatest in the world. In order to become a mighty Bishop you must master two White Monk A-abilities. Templar Race: Bangaa Templars are extremely well balanced and are able to use many different kinds of weapons and armor. They also have the highest Weapon Defense of all Bangaa classes. Master two White Monk A-abilities to step into Templar goodness. Time Mage Race: Nu Mou; Moogle Time Mages have the unique talent of manipulating time, as one can figure out from their name. They become very important supporting characters to have in the later rounds, since they are able to stop time completely. The pre-requisite? The mastery of five Black Mage A-abilities. Alchemist Race: Nu Mou Devastating magic spells are the key specialty of the Alchemist. These classy creatures are also able to use items without taking up an A-ability slot. The key to learning alchemy rests in mastering three White Mage A-abilities and five Black Mage A-abilities. Beastmaster Race: Nu Mou Beastmasters have the neat ability to control enemies, which makes them particularly useful for teaching Blue Mages their abilities... Morpher Race: Nu Mou Morphers use the souls of captured monsters to take their form in battle. Master five Beastmaster A-abilities to become a Morpher, and bear in mind that a Hunter must capture the monsters before you can use their forms. Sage Race: Nu Mou If you like having many offensive spells (for example, the super powerful Giga Flare) and being able to revive the dead, then you will really like being a Sage. Master two Beastmaster and three White Mage A-abilities to take on this job. Fencer Race: Viera Fencers have high evade and good offense, making them really useful in battles; they can also inflict status ailments on their foes. Elementalist Race: Viera Elementalists are similar to Fencers, but their attacks have more range -- a good thing indeed. Master one Fencer, and one White Mage A-ability to grow to be an Elementalist. Red Mage Race: Viera Red Mages have a variety of defensive and offensive magic spells in their arsenal, and are able to use the Doublecast ability. All you have to do is master one Fencer A-ability to become one of these badass magicians. Summoner Race: Viera Summoners are pretty self-explanatory -- they are able to call Summoned Monsters into battle to fight using offensive or defensive magic (depending on who is called). Master two White Mage and two Elementalist A-abilities to step into this class. Assassin Race: Viera Assassins are flat out awesome because they are able to KO an enemy with one shot. Need I say more? Master one Sniper and two Elementalist A-abilities to become a stone cold killer. Sniper Race: Viera Snipers are basically Archers with better abilities. Master two Archer A-abilities to become a Sniper. Animist Race: Moogle Animists call upon creatures from the Spirit World to help them in battle. Their abilities aren't very strong, but they are great for providing support during battles. Mog Knight Race: Moogle This is the best offensive job for those adorable little Moogles -- high Weapon Defense can make them excellent bodyguards. Master one Animist skill for this job. Gunner Race: Moogle Gunners possess the longest attack range of any job in the entire game, making them ideal to place in the back of the battlefield to minimize damage taken as they dish it out. Master one Animist A-ability and pick up your gun. Juggler Race: Moogle The bizarre Juggle is not very good when it comes to offense -- instead it relies on items that will cause status ailments. Master two Thief A-abilities to become a Juggler. Gadgeteer Race: Moogle This feisty little guy has a variety of powerful attacks that have an equal chance of hitting fellow party members or enemies, so use with caution. Master two Thief A-abilities to become a Gadgeteer. Hope this helps, it really helped me. I was more pointing at the fact that it's courtesy to say where you got something from if it's something as big as this. |

Oh, well, I didn't know that. Thank you for pointing that out. And DM (everyone loves him lol) gave the link, if you care to see the rest. |
