I remember a few years ago playing Amnesia: the Dark Descent and being full of suspense with every step I took. I haven't been keeping up with any new ones past the whole Slenderman phase but I kind of want to check out Outlast. I heard Outlast becomes repetitive after a while but it looks fun. 
So, what is your favorite?

My favorite would have to be Master of Darkness for the Sega Master System and Game Gear (called Vampire: Master of Darkness). It is a lot like Castlevania but it plays better and I really like the story. It has great graphics, good sound, a cool story, creepy atmosphere, and scary enemies. I also like the Splatterhouse games.

My favorite horror games are Resident Evil 1 & 2.  I've beaten them both several times and will probably beat them several more.  I've always liked Clock Tower also but when I tried to play it recently I got bored pretty quick and quit.  I've always been a big Evil Dead fan but there's just no great games of it.  The games are low budget like the movies.  For NES I'll pick Nightmare On Elm Street because it's fun to play 2 player with a friend.

I am not a fan of horror games, but I do have mad respect for the Silent Hill Series. I remember playing Silent Hill 4: The Room, alone on stormy nights or with a friend and we both would have to shut the game off at times because we got too scared. On that note, I would have to say Silent Hill 3 and 4 were my favorite horror games.

Resident evil 2. I still enjoyed the horrors of running out bullets and low health. Resident evil 1, 2, 3 was good but 4,5,6 wasn't so scary anymore, the zombies were more human than zombies.

Silent hill 1, 2, 3, 4 ,5, 6 all gave me the goosebumps but I didn't like their storyline that much.

 My favorite horror game would be either resident evil or slient hill because there full of jump scares,good story-lines, I've been playing both of these games since I was 5, Wesker was awesome...... in-till he got blown up in a volcano but that's besides the point like in RE6 what walking through the graveyard theirs so many spooks then there the running girl at the begging of leon's campaign, the boss in jakes campaign was awesome, silent hill has Robbie the rabbit that's one freaky doll not gonna lie it scared the crap out of me when I was a kid and even till this day when I look at Robbie the rabbit I don't wanna stare he creeps me out and I don't like starring at him he's so freaking creepy I would not wanna be in a room alone with him... or anyroom at all with him

Zombies ate my Neighbors (You have to love all the horror cliches!) for the Genesis, it is also on the Super Nintendo but who would want to play that version when you can play it on the Genesis?
