What console started it for all you collectors out there? Tell me how you came in contact with this console. I want to hear some stories!

About 10 years ago I walked into a local video game store. At this time I was really getting sick of the current video game consoles and hated the direction video games were headed. I was looking in a case of what nots, and something caught my eye. It was a Sega Saturn. I had never seen one before at that time (I was totally in the dark about video games then, the only consoles I knew were the N64, Gameboy, Genesis, and Snes). I looked at it for a long time, I don't know what it was about that Saturn but I had to have it, and for a price of 30 bucks it was a deal. That one buy really kicked off my collecting. Sadly I sold that Saturn years ago and really (REALLY) wish I didn't!

GenesisJunkie : To be fair I don't have an addiction of collecting. But I love collecting for the PS2 and gameboy. My collection for the PS2 is pretty impressive to say the least... I'm still working on my gameboy collection to grow tough. I ordered 2 games yesterday. Donkey kong land 2 and Spongebob squarepants the movie . (Yeah i know Spongebob is on the GBA but i meant every gameboy console) -EDIT- Forgot about the gamecube. I only have the gameboy player for the cube (Which i freaking love) But I'm gonna get Melee and some spongebob games soon (I'm a spongebob fan...) -EDIT- lol... Well the PS2 started it.

I loved the wrestling games for the PS2 and i wanted to have more of them... I also got some other games and then i got all kinds of games. Then a few years later I searched for wwe 12 to purchase it. And i found vizzed!!! Well of course this was no store. But there were N64 Wrestling games. I played them to death and then i found out about the other consoles and started to play them. Then i fell in love with retro games...

Well I only collect Final Fantasy (the oldies meaning I-X and XII as a exception and tactics of course) and Metal Gear games. First time I saw someone playing Final Fantasy was my childhood neighbor who had PlayStation One just like my parents have just purchased it. Anyway he was playing Final Fantasy VII and the first time I saw that game I fell in love for that game, I had hardly any experience on any RPG then (I was like 7 or 8 years old then) and my soul was sold to that game franchise. Then later on when they released VII and IX I was wondering what kind of games are those older Final Fantasies, but I didn't have Nintendo anymore and they hardly sold them in any stores anymore.. But I didn't get depressed because the remade those games on PlayStation 1 and I had to buy them.. They were almost better than 7-9, but for some reason my brother and neighbor didn't like them as much as I do, maybe because of the graphics or they just had enough interest to try them out more or less.

And about the Metal Gear, I was like 16 years old when I saw my old friend playing it and it looked very interesting even though I had no glue what he was doing.. I watched him playing it couple of hours and then I tried it myself, same as in Final Fantasy that game took to his grip and I still buy them when ever thy make a new one.

So to answer to your question, like you will already know it. It was PlayStation that kicked me off to collect those games. Even though my grandparents had Nintendo and Sega Genesis I have never really collected Mega Mans. Super Mario's or anything else there was even though I like those games very much, but they were so hard to come by. Gladly I can play those games here in Vizzed. ^^

My addiction came from the Sega Genesis system. I really loved playing the Sonics, and some of the RPG's like Shining Force, Phantasy Star etc. I actually paid $79.99 for Phantasy Star IV years ago. I beat the game at least 5 times so it was worth it.

In terms of collecting, I would go with the Vita games. Sure, I had huge collections of other system games for many years, but I would have to say that those were soley for playing purposes, and once I beat a game, I would always trade it back in. Its different with Vita games, I still have the first game that I bought the day the Vita came out and I haven't played it in a long time, but I would never think of getting rid of it, because for some reason, these games mean a lot to me.

I grew up when the Atari was still around and I played Atari. However, the console that got me into collecting games and really got me into several game series was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Growing up in the 80's I could not wait to get games that game out especially Mega Man and Mario games. That was the one that started it for me.
