I would rather fail a test then to cheat. Cheating to me is just wrong and dishonest.  I've cheated once or twice before and I have felt horrible and guilty after doing it for a couple days.  Better a honest F then a cheater A.

I would cheat if I really needed to past. I never actually cheated before, maybe once last year. I really don't want to fail a test, and I never failed any tests before. Most of the times, I study for tests, so I don't think that'll I'll ever not be ready for a test.

Well, I would rather fail a test without cheating than pass a test well due to cheating :o I can't even cheat properly after all, and it's not right to cheat, because then there is no equality anymore...

I personally see no moral problem with cheating on a test. It doesn't hurt anyone, but it benefits you. Unless you have some problem with lying (which I'll admit I sometimes do), then there's nothing wrong with cheating on some dumb test.

I'd rather fail a test without cheating, but with the way system works here I highly doubt if I could even think about "trying" to cheat...

The reason this question is so hard for me is because I don't think I've ever cheated on a test. I don't know what it feels like to cheat on a test. I think I'd rather fail a test without cheating than to pass a test I cheated on though. It would definitely be better than cheating on a test and failing xD. I'm a student who doesn't like cheating, but I'm also not the teacher's pet type either. I'm the student the teacher hates because I'm always making jokes and apparently that means I don't pay attention . How does me joking around mean that I don't pay attention? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's because some of my teachers can't take jokes .

Thebiguglyalien : I totally agree with you on what you said. Cheating on someone's test never hurt anyone. Now, if you cheat often, and I mean every week often, that's just not right. I say that you should be allowed to cheat on a test maybe once, twice, and if you really need to, three times during the school year. But all people are different, so you might need to cheat more or less. I do not promote or motivate students to cheat, but remember, there can be serious consequences added on to cheating. Let's say you're caught, and you get nothing on the test. A big fat zero. And let's say that you aren't getting good grades lately, which was why you were cheating that day. You might fail that class. Worst comes to worst, you have to attend summer school. Your family will be upset at you for not having responsibility, you can't hang out with your friends, you end up having no fun. Next, let's say the person who you cheated off of gets upset. The best thing you can do to prevent what I'm going to explain next is to tell him or her why you cheated off them. Apologize to them. Otherwise, they might not like you, if they don't already. If they aren't your friend, they might tell your friends, and gossip will go around the entire school. So, you aren't gonna have a good reputation or a good time at school. Now, if you just don't cheat often, and make sure you apologize to whoever you cheated off of, then you might be good. Otherwise, in thirty years, you'll be living in a box. A big cardboard box. Or a small one too. So, just don't cheat!

mario102 : When I saw this thread, I went ahead and thought out the possible moral problems with cheating. I will admit that I did not think of that. I agree that the consequences of cheating would be bad, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the action itself (assuming you don't get caught). And from my understanding, it's tough to cheat off of other students these days because of "test security". Don't you just look up answers on your phone when taking a test?

It's not like I feel guilty from cheating or anything, it's just that I rarely fail them and don't need to cheat. So when I do know I'm going to fail, I'd rather fail trying my all rather than copying someone else. I wouldn't cheat even if I knew I'd die (Metaphorically speaking and literally), because I know that would be unfair to the others.

Honestly, I would rather fail and not cheat. Truthfully, i believe that in events such as this we may be given the oppotunity to shine better in the future as you can always retest. Learning is something we are all capable of and i would rather learn from something that didnt work out and maybe if that is what i want make it work in the future rather than just toss all reason up in the air and do things that are underhanded.

Internal integrity is more important that outward success and brings happiness.

There is no honour in cheating.
