Cats are my favourite. They are much more independant than dogs, so you don't have to worry as much about them when leaving for a day or two. I also find them way more engaging than fish, which mostly just swim and eat all day.
I don't have to worry about them if they escape (like guinea pigs), And cats are much quieter and softer than birds.
Plus thefeeling seems mutual as I get along with most cats (though some dogs like me).
