What is the best deal that you have got on one of your collectibles? This can really be any collectible, video games, comic books, cards, anything you collect! When I say best deal I mean like you pay a much lower price then what the item is worth.

I payed 15 dollars for a very nice Sega Smash Controller aka Mallet Legend Smash Controller. It is a very hard to find Genesis accessory and a neat little controller. It only works on a Genesis model 1 and for the game Whac-A-Critter. It is in box and only opened to check to see if it was in it, the box is almost perfect but does have a little bit of a damage on the opening flaps, the controller itself is perfect.

Annoyingly I have never got a decent deal but I stupidly missed on at a carboot sale!! I was young at the time, I was into pokemon like mad and I had most of the games leading up to 3 gen. I had Pokemon Yellow, Gold and the three Hoenn games and I was still enjoying all of them. When I went to a car boot sale I was on the look for games and in particular Gameboy games. I saw a guy selling all of his old Gameboy Colors and of course the games. He was selling a Japanese version of Silver for only £7. I picked it up and played it but turned down the deal because I could not understand it at all. Instead I brought some Thunder Birds game which was a load of crap when I played it properly. I completed it in a day and it was a very basic game. Then again it was only £2. I was really annoyed 2 years on when I saw the price on amazon for a japanese copy. It sold for almost £300 which is a ton more than what I could of brought it for. Now I am just really pissed how I let that offer that could of made me a little rich go...

I'm not sure, so I'll list a few:

1: I got an autographed CD for around three dollars. That was pretty sweet. I bought it for three, then opened it after getting home, and saw that it had been autographed. I doubt anyone here knows the guy, but it's Warren Barfield.

2: Got a like new copy of Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires, for $5. It's actually worth about $15.

Those are small things, nut I haven't been collecting for long.

It's not so much one collectable, but I got 40 N64 games with 3 controllers and a console for a broken Wii, essentially for the value of 20 bucks, the total value of the games there would be worth somewhere around 600 bucks.

I got an Atari Jaguar with cords, one controller, and one game for 50 bucks the other day. That is a very good deal! I have seen Jaguars sell from 140-almost 200. It works great and I am really happy about the deal I got.

A couple weeks ago, I went to a card shop and brought in about 7-8 of my good basebal cards that I wanted to get rid of. I was hoping to get at least $20, but I ended up getting $75. I ended up buying more cards with that and got an even better deal on the cards I bought.

My complete copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance came from a used cd/dvd store in Salem for $5.99 (still have the receipt to prove it). The game is currently valued at around $60 but I've seen it sell for as much as $90.

My complete copy of .hack//Quarantine came from a GameStop in Las Vegas with a price tag of $35. The game was worth $70 at the time and is now worth about $125. I also have complete copies of all of the other .hack// games (but not the G.U. ones). I paid a grand total of about $75 for the whole collection over time, and the collection currently sells for $200 to $240 on eBay.

I have a stack of nine CIB Genesis games that I bought for $2 a piece at a thrift store, $18 purchase total. The rarest one is Rings of Power, a game made by Naughty Dog before they created the Crash Bandicoot series, valued at $35. The whole pile is valued at about $170.

My Ice Blue N64, the very first thing I ever bought at a thrift store, and one of the first things I bought when I started collecting video games, was $12.99 at Goodwill with all the cords and one Ice Blue controller. It is worth about $75.

I found a Super Gameboy and a copy of Pokemon Yellow Version at an odds and ends shop. The sign said "All Video Games, $2.00". Four dollars would have already been a great deal, since the Super Gameboy is worth $15 and Pokemon Yellow is worth $35, totaling $50, but I stuck the Yellow cartridge inside the Super Gameboy before going to check out and he counted it as one game, so I got it for $2!

I already owned a CIB copy of Chrono Trigger, but I found a loose copy for $20 at a thrift store. I had planned to sell it for $60 online, but I found out my sister's boyfriend at the time, who I was pretty good friends with, had just discovered that game and had been playing it non-stop on a SNES emulator. His birthday happened to be just a few days later, so I gave it to him as a birthday present.

I found Intelligent Qube for the PS1, complete, at a thrift store for $1.99 recently. For some reason that game is worth $35 to $40, I'm not really sure why.

The next thing I'm looking out for on the cheap is a Nintendo Gamecube component video cable, worth about $110. Maybe I'll find one soon...

Zurenriri : Its a thrill, ain't it? I love finding ether rare games or games that I really want in the wild. Is there a lot of places to find retro game where you live? I have to do some traveling if I want to find a good flea market or game store but we do have a few thrift stores here.

imamonster : What is that, about 20 US? Is that a good deal for DS's? I know about nothing about that handheld, I have no clue what a good deal for one of em is but if 20 bucks is a good deal I should have bought the pair of them I saw at the flea market down from my house. They were 20 each with a few games.

GenesisJunkie : I live in a tiny rural town in between two fairly large cities, each one is 10 miles in the opposite direction. Plus sometimes I travel farther to find good deals, sometimes as far as Portland (65 miles north). But the overall reach in my nearby area includes about 15 stores where I can check for good deals on video games. The .hack//Quarantine that I bought from a Las Vegas GameStop was actually a mail order; I didn't actually drive to Las Vegas, lol. I started looking on GameStop's website and calling any store in the country that had the game to find out if it was complete, starting with the nearest stores first. Las Vegas was the first one to have it complete, so I agreed to pay shipping and they sent it to me. GameStop was only charging $35 for the game while it went for twice that on eBay, which blew my mind.

imamonster : My friend got super lucky and found a Nintendo DS Lite at a Goodwill for $7.99 (EUR 5.83). They hadn't tested it, and someone scribbled all over it with a Sharpie marker, so they sold it as-is, he bought it, took it home, charged it up, and it worked just fine. He cleaned off the Sharpie scribbles and sold it for $45 (EUR 32.81) a week later. That particular Goodwill store sells untested and not-very-clean looking stuff for cheap pretty often. It's how I got my SNES, which has the entire bottom covered in splatters of white paint, for $4.99 (EUR 3.63). Works perfectly, and it's one of the newer SNES consoles (circa 1994) that doesn't have the yellowing issue.
