Mr. Zed : That is what I thought.  Almost everyone hates it the first time they try it. Iy is an acquired taste.

I was 15 when I tried alcohol. It was during the first night of the soccer tournament. My friend brought in tequila and vodka. All the back then seniors went and got a cup and drank it. My friends joined them while some just said no and left to sleep. I wanted to try it since mostly everyone is having fun. Instead of going for a cup, I went for the bottle itself. Oh it was awful. It burned my throat and OOF, was horrible to the stomach... they told me to get more so I did... it became tolerable and just drank the night away. Next day was just awful playing.

I also tried beer once but was terrible. I'm just used to higher alcoholic beverages now.

I unknowingly consumed some alcohol at the age of 7. I thought that my Dad's Stella Artois was some sort of juice, so when he wasn't looking, I sipped a bit-and I have hated it ever since. Wasn't a very smart kid back in the day!

My father gave me a full 12 ounce beer when I was 4. I finished it. Also, I drank my first hard liquor at 14.

Alcohol and I don't get along very well. We have a love/hate relationship. There are many times that I go to a restaurant and would love to order a 7 and 7 or a scotch and soda. Unfortunately, that old saying "One is too many and a thousand is not enough", applies specifically to me.

Brigand :
thenumberone : I'd always heard that the reason that the drinking age is so relaxed in Europe is because the drinking water is so polluted. Any truth to that?

thephantombrain :

Haha! Not at least here in Finland. We have a very good water system here and huge supplies of fresh water. We even import it. And this is the first time I here of this. In Russia you can get amoeba's from tap water and all kinds of germs. Or so they say. And those guys drink a lot.

And just for the sake of interest you can buy beer and wines when you turn 18 here and the harder stuff when you are 20, but in bars you can drink the harder stuff too if you are 18.

First alcoholic beverage I had was bacardi when my family went to Puerto Rico on vacation in 2004. It was strong as hell but good stuff. I was 16 at that time.

In like, 1700 yes.
When they tried to tax our whisky they backed down after a full scale riot.
Now europe has generally very well maintained natural water. Especially the northern lands where the water quality is very high. Thats why scotland has some of the best whisky, you need good water for the distillation process.
It comes down from the hills.

The first time I tried alcohol, was when I was 13 years old. I know I was young. It was 2 friends of mine, and 2 other girls. Ah yes what peer pressure does to you. I could go through with the story, but it's not worth it. In other words, I woke up in my house, with a bucket under me. My mom staring at me. I got alcohol poisoning too. I don't remember what I was drinking, but I believe it was some type of Indian rum. I think. I don't know. Hope this helps. And by the way, it was gross!

Singelli : There are some delicious cocktails I could give you recipes for, I'm about 90% sure you would like?one of them .

Beer is?bitter and can take some time for people to get used too, so you are certainly not the first to gag at the taste of it. It very much depends on the beer... some taste like vanilla, some like burn coffee, some like spice, some like oatmeal, some are smooth, some crisp, etc. I know you probably don't want to get used to beer, but if you did, I would say try a very light beer, like a Corona with a lime wedge in it.

As a young knight, I was able to try mead and wine regularly.

What many people don't know about underage drinking is that in Canada, the UK, and many states, minors drinking under parental supervision is completely legal. In some places it is even legal for an under aged person have wine or beer at a restaurant with their meal.

I think one parenting technique is to let your child take a sip of alcohol when they are young. Most children hate it and so they would never nag their parents again and possibly in the long run prevent them from drinking in the future, though I find that last bit very unlikely.
When I was 9 I had the idea that I would become a man if I drank beer since most of the adults in my family did so. I kept on nagging my mum and dad until they finally let me have a sip of their wine. I have to admit, it tasted revolting but I would not show that on my face and when they asked me for my opinion I just said it was nice. I have never asked for a sip of beer are wine again until I was 11. We were at a party and my dad was driving so he had very little to drink. He handed me his 3/4 full bottle of beer and I gulped it down in a matter of about 2 minutes, this time the experience was much more pleasing than my first alcoholic experience with wine. This brought me to the conclusion that red wine was just not what my mouth wanted!

I'm not sure my Exact age I might have been 4 or 5 but my dad let me have a sip of beer, and I threw up Haha I don't even drink beer now I hate the taste so much. I like to think it tastes like ammonia smells.
I'm mostly just a whiskey drinker these days in the bar. Not big on drinking though. Costs to much money

When I was 15, me an my friend found some of his mom's whiskey. The bright kids we were decided to fill a good sized cup full and head to the woods(exiting the woods were a lot harder to do than entering it), the woods were our "drinking and smoking spot" for a while after that. I have to say I drank a lot more in high school than I ever do now, I drink occasionally and moderately. I think it's much more enjoyable to savor it that way, instead of just using it to feed an addiction.

I was 5 years old when my parents were gone to work and grandparents took care of me. Grandmother gone to the backyard and grandfather opened a can of beer then he gave it to me to drink some. I actually drank some and then my grandfather took it so I won't have any problems. I'm so manly now and I still remember that bitter feeling.

I've never had any alcohol in my life, being that I'm 14, so that would be normal for my age (I hope!)

For the time being I have no plans to drink, though at such a young age things like that won't always be set in stone. Judging from how it usually turns people into complete doofuses (and can even cost lives), and due to some personal events I won't go into further detail about, the prospect of drinking isn't really appealing to me right now.

I don't know if this counts or not, but last year on New Year's Eve I had some champagne mixed with orange juice. I thought it was pretty good considering that was my first time having any kind of alcohol. If you're wondering how old I was at the time, I was 16.
