Hello! I just got a netbook and tried playing a few roms on it. N64 and Nintendo DS both lag really bad. However VisualBoyAdvance runs fine.

Can a netbook not handle emulating the N64 and DS?

Thanks!

What is a netbook? Is that like a laptop? If so, it probably doesn't have enough power to handle the games or else it is the emulators. N64 lags really bad on my computer but that is because it is outdated with technology. So if you got a really old computer it might be the computer. However, not all games and emulators are suppose to operate perfectly that's what I have heard anyway.

Perhaps you can provide us with the details of your netbook and what kind of power and graphics card and how old it is so others can help fix the problem

N64 and NDS emulators are quite heavy on graphics. In my opinion the recommended settings for either of those emulators to run smoothly would be something like...

P4 3.0+ Ghz or dual core with overall 2.6+ Ghz
1GB Ram Minimum
Graphics card Nvidia 6+ series (Im not sure about other cards)

I know of people getting away with less but to run the emulator smoothly without too many hickups youd need something close to that.

PSP graphics tend to average between PSX quality and PS2 quality, does that answer your question?

PSP's, like all game consoles are designed for the sole purpose of gaming and media like dvd's. A netbook is really only designed for light office programs/media, wireless communication and internet.

If I purchased the same Netbook as yours, Id be setting it up with an Arcade emulator.

Yeah it should handle SNES with no problems. I would draw the line at SNES/Arcade Emu.
