As a theology student I have to do a module entitled Christian Spirituality as a part of my degree.
During class sessions we are required to share something that means something spiritually important to us then move on to discuss the topic based on our readings. For example Christianity Spirituality through history, in practice, in view of post modernity etc.
The issue I have with this class is the issue of how do I know that the things I do are spiritual practices as surely all things I do should be God honoring and if they are how do they effect my spirituality? Do I even have a spirituality? Does my reflection mean I have had a spiritual experience or is simply the action the spiritual experience.
For my first class I linked to my class the skit guys video God's master Chisel.
I believe the video would be self explanatory as to why I find it meaningful.
However the point I am getting at is what is meaningful to you? And how does it effect your spirituality Christian or otherwise (even though my focus is Christian)? Why has this meaningful object had a spiritual effect on you?
I have many more questions as I am struggling with this module so please ask questions too as maybe you may bring up something I can bring to my class to make my lecturer ask me less.

I would really like to help you with this, but it seems like there are various questions in one post which confuses me a bit.  So basically what I want to know is what are you really asking?  Have we heard of the Skit Guys?  Do you have spirituality? How does the the things you do affect your spirituality?  What object has a meaningful spiritual effect on me?  Why is it meaningful? Or all of the above?
I hope I mentioned all the questions that I could pick up in the post and I apologise if I got it wrong.  If you could give some more clarity on exactly what you're looking for, I can hopefully assist

SoL@R : No you are very right.

I am asking all of those questions. I find that I cannot ask the singular question what is Spirituality (and as a result Christian spirituality) without taking other factors into account like an individuals view of modernism, post modernism etc.

As for my title I like to be creative in my naming of things and since it was their video that inspired my question I thought it would be an appropriate one.

Eva-Janova :

I apologise for my uber late post.  It's probably not relevant for you anymore, but here goes.

I am just going to answer 2 of the questions and hopefully cover all the questions :/

Have you heard of the Skit guys?
Easy answer.  No, I haven't.

The second part basically (hopefully) answers what true Christian spirituality is:

When you (truthfully and sincerely) confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).  You have then made Him Lord of your life and you are "born again".  You receive the Holy Spirit who seals us for the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13;4:30). Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would lead us “into all truth” (John 16:13). Part of that truth is taking the things of God and applying them to our lives.  That is by reading His Word, the Bible, and by applying it to your life.  When that application is made, the believer then makes a choice to allow the Holy Spirit to control him/her. True Christian spirituality is based upon the extent to which a born-again believer allows the Holy Spirit to lead and control his or her life.
The apostle Paul said in Ephesians 5:18 - “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit”.  This is a continual tense in this passage.  It means "keep on being filled with the Spirit" as a believer.  Being filled with the Spirit is simply allowing the Holy Spirit to control us (thought & mind spilling over to deeds/actions) rather than yielding to the desires of our own carnal, selfish nature.  Paul is making a comparison in this passage.  When you give yourself over to wine, you get drunk and you will exhibit certain characteristics such as slurred speech, impaired decision making and walking unsteadily.  You can easily tell when a person is drunk because of the characteristics he displays.  A born-again believer who is controlled by the Holy Spirit, will display His characteristics.  Those characteristics can be found in Galatians 5:22-23 where they are called the "fruit of the Spirit":  love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  This is true Christian spirituality produced by the Spirit working in and through the believer.  This cannot be produced by self effort.  A born-again believer who is controlled by the Holy Spirit will exhibit sound speech, a consistent spiritual walk, and decision making based on the Word of God.  So although as a believer you cannot judge another person's salvation and heart (only God knows his/her heart), you will easily be able to judge that person according to the "fruit" that he or she exhibits.  Matthew 15:8 says, "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man."

Therefore, Christian spirituality involves a choice we make to “know and grow” in our daily relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ by submitting to the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This means that, as believers, we make a choice to keep our communication with the Spirit clear through confession (1 John 1:9). When we grieve the Spirit by sin (Ephesians 4:30;1 John 1:5-8), we erect a barrier between ourselves and God. When we submit to the Spirit's ministry, our relationship is not interrupted (1 Thessalonians 5:19). Christian spirituality is a consciousness of fellowship with the Spirit of Christ, uninterrupted by carnality and sin. Christian spirituality develops when a born-again believer makes a consistent and ongoing choice to surrender to the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Hopes this makes sense

SoL@R : Your response is a superb and educated display of your knowledge of scripture and I whole heartedly agree with the content of your position. If only I could take this to class.

Alas the biblical view although a correct view will be splintered when it comes to the physical and actual content of the spirituality i.e the practice. Our actions are what defines to others if we are truly Christian. Not necessarily our dogmatics or doctrines. If we are both defined by God and by our choice how then are we able to display our spirituality which is not our belief (i.e. if spirituality is not the term for what we believe which in this context would be our religion) but our active response to our inner 'feelings'?

Spirituality makes more sense if it is included in the sum of experiential knowledge that is both sensory and extrasensory. That is to say if we have a purely Biblical theology and no physical or supernatural experience of God do we have a full and fulfilled spirituality with Christ?

So can I take your argument as a whole when it is  based only on words and you have not actually experienced, reflected and acted upon your knowing of God?

(Forgive me for my bluntness, I do entirely agree, however this is the response I would be required to give in class and I want to make the most of my chance to learn here as possible. I do hope this bombardment of questions makes sense.)

Eva-Janova :

I really didn't mean for it to be an "argument".  It is what it is.  Not just words.  Christian spirituality is part of my life and so should it be for every Christian - seeking God's will for them in their lives by spending time in His word and praying by the prompting of the Holy Spirit.    "Growing" spiritually - becoming more and more like Jesus Christ.  When we place our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins the process of making us more like Him, conforming us to His image. Spiritual growth is perhaps best described in 2 Peter 1:3-8, which tells us that by God's power we have “everything we need” to live lives of godliness, which is the goal of spiritual growth. Notice that what we need comes “through our knowledge of Him,” which is the key to obtaining everything we need. Our knowledge of Him comes from the Word, given to us for our edification and growth.  So, a finite being with finite knowledge and wisdom seeking infinite wisdom and knowledge from an Infinite Heavenly Father.  I actually challenge you to take that to class  I don't know how else to put it.  I think that is sometimes the problem with theology.  We often try to over complicate and over theorize things and head knowledge doesn't manifest as heart knowledge.  Christian spirituality cannot be compared to other "spiritual journeys".  Those two words are actually used by many different religions to mean the natural progression of a person as they grow in understanding of God, the world, and themselves. It is an intentional lifestyle of growing deeper in knowledge and wisdom, but what is meant by a spiritual journey toward Christ-likeness is vastly different from a journey toward some kind of “spirituality” that does not include, and is not based upon, the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, as I've already mentioned.

There are several differences between the Christian spiritual journey and the New Age version. New Agers say to chant mantras for several hours a day. The Bible says to have daily conversations with God through prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17). New Agers believe that people can choose their own path in their journey and that all paths lead to the same destination. The Bible says that there is only one path—Christ (John 14:6). New Agers believe a spiritual journey will result in harmony with the universe. The Bible teaches that the universe is at war (Ephesians 6:12) and part of the journey is fighting for other souls and our own walk (1 Timothy 6:12).
A spiritual journey filled with empty chanting will only lead to an empty heart.  A journey filled with studying the Bible, obedience to what it says, and trusting God is a lifelong adventure that will bring true understanding of the world and a deep love for its Creator.

SoL@R : You know what I will take you up on that in one of the open talks for class.
I happily agree with pretty much everything you say. So far.
It is my task as a theology student to challenge such conventions and views despite my agreement with them.
So please don't think me rude or anything if I seem over .... um...I cant think of the term right now. Overbearing perhaps?
Remind me many times to bring up what you have posted here.
