It's possbile to play ps1 games on ps3, but playing burnt games is another issue all together.

Once you download the image, your to extract it and then burn it to a disc using image burning software such as alcohol 120%.

As far as modifying your ps3 to play ps1 games goes, im not sure how thats done. Perhaps a ps1 boot disc may work? Sorry im not too much help on this subject.

should i burn all of the extracted files? and what type of disk should i use?

ps3's can play PSX format disks even if the model (mine is the 40gb) doesn't have backwards compatibility to play ps2 games

Your best burning them to CD-R, you also have a better chance of the disc turning out good if you burn it slowly. Once you extract the RAR or ZIP file you download, you should get one disc image, if not you may get a .bin and a .cue, just use your burning software to burn the larger of the two files.

You have to burn the disk as an image, just burning normally wont work.
Also, whether or not a PS3 can play PSX games doesnt matter, I dont think it can play burnt PSX games without being modified.

I know absolutely nothing about ps3s playing imports/backups so ill just give you what i DO KNOW:

If you have a ps1 or 2, i heard you can use a ps1 disc, wait until the ps1 logo shows up then swap that disc for your burned discs. You can find it on youtube, called 'swap trick.' You should throw the word 'playstation' in your search bar somewhere, or you're gonna find a japanese magician swapping slices of cake. lmao.

There are also more expensive options:
swap discs and modding your consoles.

You would be better off imo to use your ps2 if you have one.
