Hey guys. If you don't know, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses. So sometimes I won't be in any seasonal celebration. I know some people make fun of the Jehovah's Witnesses which make me sad. So try not to make fun of me too. If you want to learn more about Jehovah's Witnesses, ask me a question.

mariowin13 : This is probably going to get quite heated but since you opened this up, I'm just gonna go for it. Do you believe that the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses are actually Christian?

play4fun : Yes we are sometimes called Christian because we Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

mariowin13 : Ok, you do realize that Christians don't consider JW part of Christianity, but are a cult, right? That JW and Christians do not believe in the same core teachings and that they don't believe in the same Jesus?

A coworker of mine was a Jehovah's Witness when he was young, and he told me a story of his childhood. His preacher apparently "prophesied" the end of the world, and his father was so freaked out that he send his mother and sister away and had my friend and his brother dig their own graves. Is this something that presents itself frequently in the religion? Apocalyptic freak-outs and the potential scarring of the religion's children? Because he is pretty messed up, dislikes Christians and especially hates Jehovah's Witnesses.

play4fun : Well we Jehovah Witnesses believe that God's name is Jehovah and his son's name is Jesus Christ. So I don't believe in the trinity or the that God's name is Jesus.

pray75 : Some religious leaders teaches that the whole Earth will be destroyed with all the people. Other teaches that when the Earth is destroyed, all the good people will go to heaven. But the truth that I believe that we Jehovah's Witnesses will live in a paradise Earth. And the other Jehovah's Witnesses who are dead will be resurrected by Jesus Christ.

Hectic  (Need to post more )  Anyways, I won't be making fun of you, don't worry, but I would definitely like to ask you some questions.  Oh yes, and welcome to Christian Conservatives!  I  first just want to share with you a piece of scripture from Revelation 1:8 and you can go check it out in your NWT bible.  So, Revelation 1:8:  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”says the Lord,“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”



So my question and it might seem "stupid" and obvious, but I will get to the point eventually.  Who exactly is this Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last that is spoken of here?

SoL@R: What I read at Revelation 1:8 is: "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says Jehovah God, "the One is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty." So the answer from what I get from the bible I read is Jehovah God, the Almighty.

mariowin13 :  Ok great!  Another passage from scripture if you don't mind.  Revelation 22:13 - "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End”.
So it is clear that the Lord God, or in your translation, Jehovah God, is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last. Right?

One last piece of scripture.  Check out Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last (or Jehovah God like we just established) I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

So looking at these passages from scripture, my question to you is, when exactly did the Lord God (or again, Jehovah God in your translation) die?

Now for Jehovah God to die, He has to be a man and that man was Jesus.  Have a look in your translation - Matthew 27:49-50;  Mark 15:37-39;  Luke 23: 44-47;  John 19:30.  Jesus IS God.  Yes, He is the Son of God and was also called the Son of God (in your translation as well), but He IS God.  It can be further demonstrated in Revelation 22:13 and a bit further on in Revelation 22:16 where the Alpha and the Omega (Jehovah God) says, “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches.”

I'm really not trying to be funny or trying to trick you or anything.  I'm trying to show you the truth as revealed by God's Word.  You believe in a different "version" of Jesus while there is only ONE Jesus Christ and like I said before, He IS God in the flesh.  We all broke God's law by sinning and being wretched and because of this there will be judgement for our sins.  That judgement is eternal torment in Hell, like it or not.  You know, God loves you (and me ) so much that He made a way for us to get away from this judgement.  He does not want us to be punished and to be subjected to everlasting suffering.  Instead God became man, Jesus Christ, who suffered and died for our transgressions on the Cross.  He took the punishment that we deserve, upon Himself, because (again) He does not want us to go through that.  He rose from the dead on the third day and by this He forever broke the punishment that sin brings.  So, whoever repents of their sins and trust and believe that Jesus is the ONLY One that can save you from eternal damnation, will receive everlasting life.  God promises that.  

I believe that with my whole being and God also promises that if you truly and sincerely accept Jesus as Lord and Savior that He will give you a new heart with new desires.  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. - 2 Corinthians 5:17.  Even your translation testifies of this.  Jesus our Lord and Savior has changed my life.  I used to swear and cuss like a pirate and I got into all kinds of bad stuff, but my heart was changed and I'm a different person now than what I was before. I hope and pray that your eyes will be opened and you will see it this way, that Jesus is God.

SoL@R : Very good, my friend! I like the love you've shown along with the proof in and of itself, something I'm still working on myself! I'm going to message you at some point to chat about this a bit, because I have a few thoughts and questions! Anyways, that's an awesome example as to how we Christians should "do work," as my old football team would say before we went into the gym.

Yeah, I know Jehovah's witnesses. Unfortunately. Some of them are even family. My own blood. These people who say are for the family and only tear them apart.
