Hi there folks

Yes I'm new. But that doesn't make me a fool or something

Let me start by saying I'm an atheist.
Now hold your horses I'm not here to bash religeous people or try to make them come over to the other side.

Because I respect all people opinion and choices in religions.
Anyway what I really wanted to ask is if someone can tell me what and how they feel about their religion.

Remember I'm not looking for answers that try to convince me to believe.
I'm looking for answers that can make mme understand the principle of religion more.

Afterall
Wouldn't it be better to understand both sides?
So both sides would respect each other more?

Peace

Well, I am a Baptist and I feel that religion is the single most important thing people can talk about. It is about what happens after you die, and how you should live your life. I believe Chrsitianity does not contradict science, and science does not contradict Christianity. (Alot of science at least, not the so-called science in evolution, although most evolutionists do believe that there could be a God that created evolution, but that contradicts the Bible.) I hope that opens your eyes more.

How does evolution contradict the Bible?

Maybe if you take the Bible 100% literally and assume that the Earth is only 6000 years old.... but there is more evidence against that theory than for it.

I am Agnostic.
A certain member by the name of DM called what I believe "Weak Agnosticism".
Not as in my belief is weak, but to put it in an actual category.

It's a bit difficult to explain what and how I believe, but I'll do my best.

I accept all, and reject all.
All of the believed-in Gods, in my view, may, or may not exist.
I believe we do not have a right to pick and choose our "Creators".
Thus, I worship all and none at the same time. Call it contradictory, but it works for me.
God may exist, or he may not. Zeus may be waiting to smite me, or not. Loki is playing tricks, or not. Who's to say? I'm not one.
So, on Judgment Day, or 2012, or whatever and whenever the end of the world happens, I'll just sit there and say "Ah, so that's how it is".

I think I got what I wanted to say in...
Hrm..

No my eyes haven't opened more.
I do actually believe in evolution.

And Neyro. Don't worry
You explained it nicely

Jupiler: I don't think that evolution and creationism are mututall exclusive. The simple fact of the matter is that we don't know how God created the world. We don't know for sure how he populated the earth with plants and animals. We're not told. So it's possible that a form of evolution was used and we're slowly starting to understand how it was done.

I think it is rather presumptuous of religion to assume that their interpretation of a chapter or 2 at the beginning of the Bible gives them all the knowledge they need to tell the rest of the world how the earth came into existence.
