According to some, please confirm, according to the papers the pope is only meant to be seen consuming the Eucharist and yet he was seen drinking papal mate.

If he is Argentinean this is simply a drink of 'erbal tea and yet one wonders then why the papers published this image of him drinking it then?

If he is not meant to be picutured consuming non sacramental 'foodstuffs' then why was he picutured doing so.

A pope is human and must eat and drink so why are they showing it?

Is it because it is Mate and unusual to a Western media and not a latin one?

Yes he is from a different country and not Italian or German so is it a problem that he eats and drinks foodstuffs native to that land?

I am not sure what others have made of these stories and would be interested in just such an investiagtion
