Well, I don't like them, but I understand why they are there.

I mean, there are some kids who definitely do not have the maturity to become a mod, or a staff member. But some people have said to me(I will not mention names without their permission)that I am nice and do good posts that they mistook me for fourteen or fifteen. In conclusion, I find them unfair and I don't like them but I can understand why they are there.

True that there are kids who are mature enough to become staff, and some who think they are but aren't, but at the same time there are adults who think the same thing. But the rules are there for a reason. Young people need to be restricted for their own good. (Though that is incredibly cliche)

   Age restrictions are some of the most pointless things I've seen (and I am not just saying this because I am 12, trust me). First of all, age restrictions don't really do anything. If you put an age restriction saying that you have to be 13 or older to sign up, and a 10 year old kid wants to sign up, he can just say he is 14, and joins. It could even motivate kids to join, because they will think "Oh, this site is for older kids! I get to hang out with teenagers! I'll be so cool!!". A perfectly good example of this is Facebook. I'd say that 40% of the site is kids under 13, even though there is an age limit for Facebook. 

It's not so much the age that they put into the site but more their reactions to things too old for them. While it is all for the better to have more young users that are mature, restrictions are still at least, recommended. I completely agree with them getting punished for acting and posting childish comments.

thenoobtester : I made this thread because I got tired of hearing people complain about the age restrictions in private so I wanted to make a thread to get the general community thoughts on this subject were everyone can talk about the subject without fear of persecution and ridicule, the way you guys the responded made the thread harsh and generally harsh toward younger members and if you read the description of the thread, I pointed out not to rant and flam members for posting there thoughts in this thread.

I'm 20 years old.. Yet I'm in mature to be of any use as a mod... and I'm to scared to take the job.. I'm afraid to make mistakes..)
so age indeed doesn't matter in forums.. The only reason age restriction would be necessary is for mature stuff like nude things or sexual activities on  the Internet or television.
also for certain amount of violence in movies or other kind of stuff.. Because some people can get a trauma of seeing bad things..

but for forum users.. Age restrictions is indeed unnecessary for the fact that a 10 years old boy can be more mature then a 30 year old mature..
ever watched you tube? There is a pretty fat guy addicted to world of war craft... would you like someone like that as a local mod?.. Not me...
for me. I'm pretty mature in thoughts and spirituality. But I'm not mature enough to gain staff promotions..( well that's my opinion in it) i would like to try it if other people DO think i could be a staff but since I know of myself that i ain't that good with computers..
i could at least check for good posts or reviews what so ever. But don't ask me to ban or promote other people etc.
there are to many people who are permanent banned on gaming sites or forums while it wasn't there fault. But someone just hacked him causing trouble..
and for me this would be really hard to ban these people who would done something bad while didn't even do anything at that time.
and yet with promoting. It could be that i would promote the wrong staff.. And if i don't want anything on my name is giving vizzed a bad name.. I love this website. And the people here are suprisely wise and mature even for there under age.
the age restriction is necessary only because of the stereotype reflection that people have of people.

its the same like discrimination or racism.
black people are bad Muslims are dangerous and chinees people are crazy..
black people ain't bad.. Nor are Muslims dangerous ( I'm Muslim  am i dangerous?...)
and chinees people are not crazy.. Its a stereotype reflection human created to manipulate the world.

so conclusion: age restriction isn't neccecery. But its just a norm in the world.
but for on this forum.. I think  testimony/proof would be best to judge if someone is mature enough or not.

Although there are a few that do act this way, there are many older people who act this way too. I agree that there should be age limits in some forums, but you say it in a way that makes it sound like you don't want younger people on Vizzed at all. I don't know if that is how you meant it to sound like, but that is the message I got. I'm sorry if my message was a little harsh, but that's my opinion on the subject

marcushoward : You are taking peoples opinions as flame. And you somewhat did force people to post in the thread by making it about a somewhat controversial topic. You should expect these kinds of responses from people. Not everyone is going to agree with you, and you just have to accept that.

I'm stating my opinion, and you are stating yours. Tails is right, not everyone is going to agree with you, and you should learn to accept this. This topic was asking for some people to rage, as there are a lot of younger kids on Vizzed.

Now back on topic, the fact of the matter is age restriction are fair to an extent.
A 10 year is far less mature than a 13 year old.
