Could I just ask how do you actually get the games onto a computer?

If by games you mean the roms in the retro game toom, you simply go to www.get-your-rom.com and find the right emulator for the rom you want (eg if you want to play a nes rom you will need a nes emulator). Once youve found the emulator and downloaded it you can find a game in the rom section. Check out Darks emulator set up thread (the link is located under my signature) for a better understanding.

I hope that is what you mean, if not you can specify a little more and well all be sure to help you out.

I meant how do you get the games off the games e.g. Gameboy games.

Thats ok, I thought it might be like that.
Well for cd / dvd type games it's very easy to get the data of the disk, you just put the disk in the dvd drive of the computer and use a program like Alcohol 120% to make an "image" of the disk and thats about it.

For cartridge based games it's a little more complex.
The easiest way is to get a special device called a "copier" which you plug into the PC via cables.
You then install the software that comes with it, plug the game cartridge into the copier and the software makes a "rom".
Sometimes in rare cases this doesnt have to be done because a rom file is leaked from someone inside the game company, but this is a very rare thing to happen.

Once people get the games info, whether it be rom or image, they put it out onto the net and it gets passed around and makes its way to sites like ours.
