lunaselene : It would definately be the expansion causing the fix to not work.
Most no-cd fixes like this only work for the version they were made for, so installing anything else like updates, patches or expansions would cause the fix to no longer work.
I'm sure there's a more up to date crack around, one would just have to find it I suppose.

The install didn't seem to work for me. I've been trying to work with EA for days....their customer service is horrible.

Hey I have the sims 3 installed and i've tried the patch, it lets me open the game and then when it gets to the screen where you choose a city it says No game disc found! Please insert the sims 3 game disc before proceeding. And it shows retry or quit, and when i click retry it keeps saying the same thing. How do i get it to work without the cd?

Hi, I downloaded your file, added it to the bin folder. Now it says there's an error with the launcher and won't even open it whereas before the launcher was working fine. What do I do now? i did what the instructions said and i still get the same blooming message.
if it's not a problem with a patch it's a problem with recorgnition. My game has worked fine for anout 2 months on XP with ambitions installed and the specs are fine. It just decided it wanted to be an ass.

Seriously, EA spend so much money on creating the game and they cant even fix a widespread problem. Not looking forward to the sims 4... it just seems that each generation of the game has more problems than the one before.

It's not a problem with my disk - it came from Game. So it must be authentic - right?

Hello. This procedure is very easy and it worked and everything until I clicked on the document, TS3, in the Bin folder. I already did everything else. It worked awesome for me at first, then there was an update this morning and I can no longer play it. I tried to redo all the steps but it appears that the BIN folder has been removed. Any suggestion for how I can play without the disk?

I did this, however, I did'nt extract the files first, now it wont work. My dvd drive has died, but I do have a legit copy. Any Idea's. I'm guessing I overwrote the good files, with compressed. Then when I did again, the right way, It still wont work.

I have a legal copy of the Sims 3 and I accidentally broke the disk, I unzipped it in  the bin folder like you said and overwrote what it asked to overwrite but the sims3 game launcher crashes every time I try to open it and the "ts3" file won't open either, can I get some help? ty. I did the Sims 3 disc fix correctly, and it worked perfectly.  However, when I installed the Pet Expansion, I am getting an error that says the Launcher will not open.  Then, when I go into the game, I am getting the disc authentication failure again.  Is there a way to get around this?  Thank you,

I tried to follow this fix (using an Imac) with the only result that I now get a debug error - now trying to uninstall and hope to be able to read the original discs again afterwards...

I want to thank you for putting up this post.  It was nice to find an actual detailed account of what to do about this problem. Unfortunately because I use a Mac, it did not work.  I too am getting the message about needing to debug when I start the game normally, when I go into the program's files and start it from there etc.  I will keep an eye out if anyone seems to figure out the problem. Thank you for trying, I will do as origin says, deleting all of my beautiful content because that is the only way I have found to get rid of the beginning error.Thank you
