I'm voting for Tennant. In all honesty, Matt Smith is an amazing actor! The only problem is that I liked the writing for Tennant much more. It seems like the thirteenth doctor (Smith) could just say his name to defeat enemies while the twelfth (Tennant) always defeated his enemies himself without using his reputation.

I love the good old scott David. He was a great doctor and in my opinion the best. I am too young to really know the older doctors but my parents try to convince me that he is not the best and that ted baker is.

I think the 10th doctor was the best.. I thought the forth and 2nd one were also but the 10th will also hit the win.. for me at least when it comes down to it. I liked a lot of the doctors in general .. so it's really hard for me to pick.. :3

I'd say like most actors in series would depend on who you grew up with or started watching. For me it would have to be Christopher Eccleston as the 9th doctor. But I actually like David Tennant a little more because he had the more weird-ish feeling to him. Also he's the one I watched the most so naturally I enjoy him over most doctors although I is a tough choice to pick.

I also think the new doctor isn't that bad but I don't think he's gonna end up being one of my favourites.

My favorite Doctor has to be the 10th Doctor  himself, David Tennant! I mean, I think the 10th Doctor was the best. All the Doctors were good, don't get me wrong,  but I really prefer David Tennant

My favorite doctor was either Matt Smith (11th) or Christopher Eccleston (9th). Matt Smith was funny and happy, and Eccleston was really fun.

So why does everyone like David Tennant? I've seen his episodes and he's really not that entertaining.

Has to be the fourth, (Tom Baker).  Actually met him, when he was in Northampton filming the Dr Who and the talons of weing-chang.  They filmed some of it at the Royal Theatre.  It dates back to Victorian times.

I grew up watching the 4th Doctor on the TV.  He was a big part of my early TV experience, and he helped define my childhood.  I used to love watching him and his ridiculous scarf on the TV!

With that said, the 4th Doctor is hands down my favorite.  The 10th Doctor would make a distant second place, with the 9th making a close third place.

One of the beautiful things about Doctor Who is the fact that even with so many talented actors playing the part, the "Who" may always be changing, but the core/soul of the character always stays the same.

The Tenth was my first Doctor, and he was who got me so interested in the series. I remember seeing an episode with Matt, then with Eccolson, and I was so confused, and angry, that there were "impostors". I was so naive back then.

David Tennant.  I love his fantastic quotability and personality.  You really got the sense that he cared for all of his companions, too.

Matt Smith became a bit of a jerk, even though he's a good actor.  I like his personality much less than David Tennant's or Eccleston's.

I haven't watched enough Classic Doctor Who to make an opinion on the older Doctors.

Well it seems I'm the only one who liked the 7th Doctor the most. A man of many words, he was so good with them he talked a Dalek into killing itself. Why does he not have any votes?

I believe the fourth Doctor is the best doctor because he invented The Matrix (yes really! ! ) 27 years before the movie with Neo in it
No other Doctor has done that

( Although technically speaking they have all done that as they are all the same person, just different incarnations )

In conclusion, all the Doctors are great, I like them all and still watch them all, even the movies from the 60's and 80's

Grew up with Baker, he was pretty goofy. For nostalgia's sake I have to pick him. Gotta love that scarf. Plus Sarah Jane was pretty cute.

Definitely David Tennant. What I love about the show is it's big message about how life is worth living and that every person is worth their existence. The Doctor's action to save people in time is in the belief that everyone is worth saving, and David does it in such a careful and fun way while still being scary and feared by his enemies is a great combination in the character. He will be remembered as one of the favorites in Doctor Who history.

Honestly, I like the new doctor the best. What is he? The 12th doctor? I dunno, but I know his name is Capaldi. I've only seen a few episodes and I like him more than the others. Maybe it's because he's Scottish... heheh.

I like Capaldi's version of the Doctor too, I just wish the show had better writers because this season was really weak as far as story lines go..

I posted here quite a while ago, and my opinion changed a little. I am not changing my answer for my favorite. I am still a Tennant fan. But when my wife and I re-watched the show and got to Matt Smith, we kept an open mind. I think we were a bit too harsh. Now, he is far from my favorite, but I like him better the 2nd time around. I think it was more the new writers that was our issue.

Cyber Bishop : Agree completely. There just seemed to be a big lack of substance compared to the past. It was, overall, very bland. But Capaldi did a great job with what he had to work with.
