SEGA needs to bring back Metal Sonic, he was an awesome character, and has been neglected all too long now.
He always gave sonic an amazing fight, he could do everything that Sonic could do, plus, he had his own features that Sonic in no way 
could match. 

You know what SEGA did? They replaced this awesome creation with someone who died in Sonic Adventure 2.

That's right, Shadow, and since, he's been stealing the spotlight for nearly a decade, from both Sonic, and Metal Sonic.
So, am I the only one wants Metal Sonic back? 'cause I miss him.

Well, Metal Sonic is in Sonic Rivals, You had to race him in Sonic 4:episode II(He also has his own Episode in the Sonic 4 Series), and was in Sonic Generations, as the Rival Battle for the Genesis Era.

Really, he was in Sonic 4? well that's nice to know.
Actually it doesn't surprise me that he was in Sonic Rivals, and I did know that he was in Sonic Generations.

Yes, It is from the sonic 2 instruction manual, I just got it from Sonic Generations Concept art.

He has been in more recent games, but In think they "replaced" him because there was no character development, where as a new "living" character, shadow, had a clean slate. Til recently, Metal has been a static character until he started disobeying Dr. Robotnik (EGGMAN).
But I agree that Metal could have more rival scenes, I don't know where they could put him.

DLCJRpc : Maybe he should have been in Sonic Colors (wii version)? It is interesting that he has started to disobey Dr. Robotnik, 
(By the way, I have always known him as Robotnik, Eggman doesn't sound nearly as good)

What game allows you to play as metal sonic besides super smash?

You can play as him in these games:

Sonic R
Sonic Drift 2
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

And there is a hack on this site where you can play as him, it's called Metal Sonic Hyperdrive.

I Agree metal sonic was a great character to use and he was a nice addition to the games. But I don't know why they don't use him any more 

Man, Metal Sonic was so awesome! I hadn't thought about it, but you're right, he does deserve more time in the newer games. But you cant deny that his fight in Generations was awesome. Like DLCJRpc already said, SEGA needed a character who could be further developed, but Shadow hasn't had much development since his own game. The series has had convoluted stories before (Eggman should have died multiple times), so I don't see why there cant be something along the lines of an "emotion chip" or upgrade which lets him think completely for himself that Eggman gives Metal Sonic for some dumb reason. Eventually he could struggle with the choice of his programming or the soul he may or may not have. Maybe he'd even have to help Sonic, leading to a heroic death. I don't know, there are just so many ideas he could work with, SEGA is just too narrow-minded to see them.

Well, maybe if Metal Sonic turned out to be a cyborg, then he could have more character development, but that might ruin his character in the process. It might be cool if he got an emotion chip or something like that. I think I like him the way he is, as this awesome metal rival who will stop at nothing to stop Sonic.

They've been slowly bringing him back in the newer games, such as adding him as a boss in both Generations and Sonic 4 Episode 2, and if I recall correctly, also having him be a playable racer in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

Plus, if rereleases count for anything, he's a fighter (Boss only unless they changed it up in the rerelease) in Sonic the Fighters, and his first game, Sonic CD, was released on PSN and Xbox 360 some time ago (Older than a year), Nya~.

Okay, I honestly don't care to much for the Sonic series, Don't get me wrong it's good and all just not my cup of tea though. As for SEGA It's now owned by you guessed it, NINTENDO entertainment. Why do you think we have all these Mario VS. Sonic games? And now it's pretty much up to NINTENDO on this one if they bring Metal Sonic back or not. I think we need a Metal Shadow to counter-act his fame, Then to have Metal Sonic to take down Metal Shadow who is even better than Shadow should pretty much put Metal Sonic back up on top in my opinion, Then again this is just me. power gem implanted in his chest. He even helped Sonic and Tails!
