To be honest I just Ignore them yeah it is unfortunate that they are in the predicament they are in but in most cases it is their own fault they ended up homeless.
There are plenty of things they can do to better their lives but I haven't seen many attempt that if anything I see them sitting on corners looking for hand outs to go in to the corner store and buy alcohol.
I work to hard to just hand my money away to people like that who wont try to better themselves so yeah that's all I have to say on that.

I have been homeless I was fortunate enough that I didn't live off the streets but I know what it's like to not have a place of my own and people making assumptions about it. Things happen and once you are homeless it's 10x harder to find a job. I'm actually trying to get a job at a shelter and trying to do volunteer work (it's hard because most shifts are 2am to 7am)

I also would like to state that yes there are many homeless people that are alcoholics but at the same time you have to remember these people are very depressed and it's cold at night so get a 40 (which cost less then something food in many places) keeps them warm and makes them feel like their still alive. Also there are more homeless that are NOT dangerous then the one that are. I'm not saying there are not people that make it a "job" to be homeless but once again not as many as people like to assume.

cnw64 : Whenever I see one, I just try to ignore them. Not because I don't feel bad, simply because my parents said so when I was younger.
But I do thank my parents for that, and whenever I see one, I also thank my parents that we do have a house.

I have been homeless, living here and there and not knowing what you are going to eat. So now when ever I see charities to feed or cloth homeless I do try to donate as much as I can.

I can never seem to find any homeless around where I live. The few occasions I do see one, I usually give them change or food if I have any on me.

It depends. In the past, I gave them food, but I generally ignore them. I'd rather give to charity so THEY can help the helpless. I think giving money doesn't help most homeless

I do feel pity for them, I just feel bad whenever I see them sitting on the streets wondering where their next meal might come from. It is very sad. I usually ignore them, I mean yes I feel bad for the unfortunate life, but I don't think there is very much I can do, and money only goes so far that it can only buy them a little something for 1 day. And I don't think it is very wise to give your money to let other people handle. Some bums or hobos in new York do this sort of thing and they pretend to look like they are homeless, and many people feel sorry for them and give them money and they are already able to pay off their homes, but they make a lot of money by asking people by looking pitiful. I feel sorry for the homeless and I do hope that they find a home and that God is always with them, but there is not much I can do with a few dollars that  I don't think would be wise to give to a stranger you don't trust. I always pass them everyday when they hold up signs, I feel so bad about it, I feel so sorry for them, but we just drive past them anyway.

I've given some homeless men money in the past, but I've been pretty much dissed by a lot because it "wasn't enough," so now I ignore them unless I feel the absolute urge to help. Then I'll get them food.

I have a lot of homeless friends actually but that's because I cook at a local soup kitchen here  every couple of months. i've worked with some, hung out with many. it may just be my presence but i am not the kind of guy people wanna hurt or anything usually people love me. i get along with all different sorts of crowds and i think everyone can attest to something of that sort.

sometimes a person is just the way they are due to current circumstance. yesterday's homeless can be tomorrow's average citizen or vice versa. i don't really know where i'm going with this so i'll stop here.

I help them in any way that I possibly can. I was homeless a few different times and people helped me so I return the favor. When I lived in Arizona me and 2 other homeless guys got a job together and saved up for a place to live. Every weekend we would hit the streets and find homeless people that we knew and we would bring them to the house and let them take a shower and we would feed them pizza cause 2 of us worked at Pizza Hut and we got free pizzas all the time. The Pizza Hut I worked at in Mesa AZ was like the busiest PH in Mesa and we always had a lot of work to be done and there was this one homeless guy who would come in and do our dishes for us in exchange for some food.

When I was a kid there was this homeless guy that always hung out under one of the bridges in our town and on holidays my dad would bring him a 12-pack of beer and some food so he could at least enjoy the holidays. If you ever run across a homeless guy be nice to him, sit down and talk to him and you will find that most of them just had bad luck. I met this one guy in california, I was living in a car at the time and me and the girl I was with needed directions so we walked up to this guy in a parking lot to ask him and he was crying and writing a suicide letter cause his wife left him and took everything leaving him on the streets. We talked to him for a couple hours and when we realized he was not a bad guy we bought some booze and smoke and the three of us drove up into the mountains and just hung out all night and he turned out to be a great guy.

Personally, I'm going to be homeless soon myself... so really, I don't know. I would hope people would just leave me alone and not give me any pity money or anything. Like seriously, you brought this upon yourself (most of the time) and now you should face the consequences for your actions... I know it's a harsh thing to say, but people never learn if they're constantly given a break.

Sometimes you never  know. They might want to trick you out of your money. I usually give them a few dimes and nickels. But sometimes you ought to be careful if they are just begging or not. My step-dad took away some money he gave to a homeless guy because he over heard him saying how much of a gullible fool he was :O But I am usually kind to them. Honestly I think you can tell who is homeless and who isn't. It makes me sad in general also to see homeless. Some messed up their lives like idiots and can't have the chance to get them back, and others or less unfortunate. If only America gave these people a chance. They may not deserve a top-notch chance, but they deserve one. I don't know, I think giving them something gives me peace of mind that I did something for a change. It is possible for them to get up and do something. There is a lot of construction jobs in America now, and poverty in America isn't something permanent anymore. People are just to suppressed and lazy to do something. That is for the ones who brought it upon themselves to say the least.

I have absolutely no clue what I would do because I have never seen a homeless person. I guess I would look at them and then give them some money or something.

I have to say that if I see homeless people and it's tough to separate the real homeless people and others that are drug addicts, the only way I do tell is that I give them something to eat to get them by instead of giving them money.
