I voted Mario since the series is named after him but I honestly think that none of them are better since it took Mario 80 games to show how awesome he is(some of them don't make any sense...)and it took Luigi just a few appearances and BAM! He gains more popularity than Mario.

That's actually a hard choice. They are pretty balanced out when it comes to ability's. Mario jumps lower then Luigi but slips a lot less. Luigi can jump higher then Mario but slides an awful lot.

I pick Mario, since he appears in every Mario game imaginable. I like luigi a little for high jumps in SMB2 USA and the JPN version of SMB2 but luigi has a problem when it comes to trying to stop yourself in the Lost Levels game.
