I know how to extract files, i dont know how to extract them so that they work.

I can successfully download MGS disk 1 of 2 part 1, and thats it, the others get CRC errors or something and won't extract.

Trial an error isn't seeming to help getting this to work... so yeah, i need help

EDIT:
Okay, surfing around it seems as though i have to extract all the files at once in order to make one giant file. Is this correct?

Im using a mac, with Zipeg to unzip stuff. I intend on putting the files onto my Windows partition and playing them via ePSXe once its all together (unless theres another really good PS emulator for mac; i wanna be able to use a controller).
When i select all the files and go to extract, i think it tries to just extract part 5 of the 10 parts, instead of all 10. Either way i keep getting a CRC error.

I have no problem extracting the first part of the first disk, nor the first part of the second disk, when trying to extract them separately. Trying to extract anything else separately leads to a CRC error.

Idk how to explain it better, if you dont understand me let me know and ill try to do a better job!
Thanks!

hi and welcome.
it is correct that they need to be extracted as one giant file.
make sure you have all the parts in the same folder.
highlight part 1 ONLY of the archive.
extract from part 1, and it will create the complete file you need.

as far as emulators, ePSXe is the best Windows based emulator, as far as Mac emulators i havnt used one so i cant say. sorry.

let me know how you go

Nice!
Yeah, i got it to work... sorta... my gamepad isn't configuring well to those offered, i have a wingman cordless thing. Do i need a PS like controller for it to work?
And if i were to install my ROM to a CD/DVD and play it off that would it work?

Thanks a ton! And if i should start a new forum for my other questions let me know and i will...

its fine for you to keep it in the same thread, we're pretty laid back about that sort of thing here

for your second question there, yes, you can burn the rom to a disk and play it off the disk.
and if you burn it as a PSX disk with a tool like alchohol 120% you can play the rom on a chipped playstation as well as on the pc.

as far as the controller, i dont think you need a playstation like controller, i have used ePSXe with my thrustmaster and it works fine.
you may need a controller driver update? try the controllers manufacturer site to find drivers for it

Awesome!
thanks to you i have made leaps and bounds in progress...

i have one more question though... >.<

Is there a trick to configuring controllers on ePSXe? I am having trouble mapping my joysticks.

For some reason Up on the joystick configures to Up in the game, and then Right on the joystick configures to Down in the game. The left and down axes on the joystick wont map to anything.

This gamepad works in other games, even with newly installed drivers, so i assume its screwing up either because it doesn't match up with the emulator well, or im just an idiot.

The configuration screen is a bit touchy; I dont know how to work the whole "Full" "Positive" and "Negative" thing.
Any tips would be awesome!!
