i've downloaded the psx emulator, and i've downloaded final fantasy tactics ROMs. it worked. but when i downloaded the final fantasy 8 ROMs, my emulator couldn't run the ISOS files of ff8. could you tell me what's the problem? Is it anything to do with the config or something? thx for replying.

I've only used a psx emulator a few times but if I remember correctly you have to use the iso's from the PSX version of the game and not the PC version. That might be your problem but it's hard to know for sure. Maybe try mounting those iso's using something like Daemon tools or poweriso and see if you can run the game that way.

did you download the ff8 rom from get your rom?
i'll have a look at the files if thats where you got them.
also you can use what i posted here as a basic checklist,
though if you got tactics working then you should be ok.

probally would be best to switch plugins to petes plugins (mentioned in that post above),
and try it again first while i check the get your rom files

EDIT: ok its going to take me longer then i thought to get those files to check it for you, bare with me...

EDIT 2: does *error loading isofile: [Final Fantasy VIII [NTSC-U][Disc1of4][SLUS-00892].ISO] appear?
i have tried numerous fixes like renaming the file extention, changing settings, etc and cant get this file working either.
i beleive it has something to do with the ecm file type it has

EDIT 3&4: ok i know whats going on now.
in the rar archive you get from get-your-rom there are four files.
the one we need to pay attention to here is Final Fantasy VIII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of4] [SLUS-00892].img.ecm

What is ECM? ECM (Error Code Modeler) lets you prepare CD image files (such as BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or similar)
so that they'll compress far better in programs such as WinRAR.

anyway what you need to do is use this tool to decompress the ecm file

i'll explain. extract that tool (highlighted above) to a folder.
drag the Final Fantasy VIII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of4] [SLUS-00892].img.ecm file onto the unecm executable and it will decompress into Final Fantasy VIII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of4] [SLUS-00892].img
that new file will work in epsxe.
you can delete the Final Fantasy VIII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of4] [SLUS-00892].img.ecm file now, you dont need it anymore.
just put the new img file in the same folder with the other ff8 files.
