I think that my ideas would make the VCS a lot fairer and I uncovered the could be faults in the Purple jersey, one of which was the out-of-town thing that pacman just talked about (but I talked about the users that have school, work, etc. and that they couldn't even get on till around 7-8 in the evening)

"About the closer to midnight penalty: I see what you are trying to limit, but there is one crucial problem with this. There have been several nights where school, extracurricular activities and the like have prevented me from getting on until 7 PM. What this rule would do for me and all others who are not able to play during the day due to work, etc. is that they would be really limited to one hour of true posting before being penalized. So this is really what is happening, the people who are able to get on all day, win. The kids who just are able to get on after school to whatever their bed time is don't really have a change besides just stop posting on Vizzed a little earlier, so a small negative as activity is being inhibited. For the people like me who have full time things to do throughout the day, we have nearly no chance of being able to win a VCS, so a pretty bad negative.

My solution: Make it so that 11:30 is the capping time where people start being cut off. Every 10 minutes the red jersey will count 25% less of the words. That way it is a little bit more fair. In compensation, the red jersey will count 10% more words from 12:00 - 12:10. 7% more words from 12:10-12:20, and 5% from 12:20-12:30. This would have no effect whatsoever on the yellow jersey. Words are words no matter when they are. It just would be a complete waste to have a post at the very end of the day, solving the exploiting of red AND yellow "

I do admit that it really sucks when you lose your Jersey in the last hour or so of the night. It just doesn't seem fair that you could be posting all day, and trying your best, just to have someone pass that last hour...but that's life. I'm not really sure how you could change it so where that process would be fair for everyone.

septembern: I read what you put. That does seem like it would work, and I get where you are coming from. Maybe there could be a system put in place for if you are logged on for x amount of hours, and then post right at the end, then you would be penalized.

Don't lump me in with sept on that. He makes all his posts in several tabs, and submits them, whereas I post them all in a single tab. I just have an incredibly fast WPM.

Since I'm in here, I'll tell you what I think of "the midnight penalty".

I don't like it, for one very basic reason. It's the time I'm able to get on site. I can't get online before 6 PM most days, because of internet issues. I spend 6 PM-2 AM on site these days, and I don't really think it's fair that my score gets harmed simply because I can't be online when there is no internet.

Aside from personal reasons, it's fine. I'm not really "involved" so I am perfectly fine with it. But before making a decision, keep in mind the abilities of the people it would affect. I bet there are more people than I who would be affected by it.

legacyme3 : Well you can't criticize the idea when it's really one of the only ideas thrown out. Everyone is complaining about the tab tactic but no one wants to help me think of solutions. To be honest, I really see that as being the only way to reduce the last hour competition posting. When people wait until the last 1 or 2 hours of the day, it bugs a lot of members including myself. I can't imagine with there being 24 hours in a day, those would be the only 2 hours you'd be able to post.

I'm surprised Sept did absolutely nothing today. I think this is the first day that Sept DIDN'T get a jersey.

I'm surprised that Septembern didn't do anything either, although I was somewhat close to getting a jersey.

pacman1755 : thanks. Yeah. Me and fall are pretty good buddies now. We actually helped each other. We are going to hold a debate maybe on Wednesday on 8 o-clock eastern time. We know what it will be, but I do not feel like disclosing what it will be about at this time, seeing as how we are not sure if that time will work for both of us right now.

As for this... well, 4 jerseys in 2 days. Can ANYBODY figure out my goal right now? I am going to attempt to unseat sept and take the grand prize for the Tour De Vizzed. This is a great way for me to get some post experience, see some new areas and topics to post about, and get Viz points. I just loved vizzed board. My Dad thinks that I am on site too much. But he really does not care.

I was involved in a physical accident in which several rather large pieces of pencil lead were embedded in my foot, causing me to spend hours trying to extricate them, still a few left

But alas, real life and just me putting off Vizzed for other things have stripped me of mod status. Oh well.
