OK OK OK I think that Jesus did not actaully die on friday, I think that the dates are more symbolic that literal. Bear in mind that I havn't researched this or know what I'm takling about. I think we could have very easily got mixed up on what happened when. I think most historians go back to the year that the King took the Tax Census deally so we can figure out what year it was.

I think David's original point is a good one. We base most of our goverment on religous principals and morals. All of our founding fathers were not protestant but most were. If you read the writings they left us (I have) you can clearly see how&why they wrote it and came up with it. (A good thing to read is the fedralist papers.) The three branch gov is based off of the trinity. In God we trust is on all our money. Each morning before the senate opens its meeting they pray. ITs in our pledge our whole way of life. UNless you are anti everything either because you don't want to own up for your own actions or you want to be a rebel.

Its not about the "magnificient stories" its that we can point to everyday miracles in our lives. NOW listen to this contraversial statement. NOTHING and i mean NOTHING in the bible has ever been proven to be historically incorrect. If you find one thing in the bible that is wrong then it simply can't be infallible. They have found the cities of Sadam and Gamora, They have found the walls of Jericho. They have found hundreds of chariots on the bottom of the Red Sea. After Jesus was crucified it was witnessed that he had risen from the dead. There are clear and defining pricipals that seperate christianity from all the other religions. And if the bible is correct, then it was the FIRST religion. In a way because the covenant has changed since the old testament, and it was changed IN the old testament. Now lets say for a moment that the bible ISN'T true. Well its a damn good book to live your life by. To find peace, serenity,
love, hope, and joy.
Christianity is special because if you are not a christion.... You might get a little too hot in the future.

Well, since the concept of "Friday" did not exist back then, I think they messed up a bit there.

the concept of Friday?.... what are you talking about....

regardless of what the days were called... the Jews still had a seven day week... because they were to rest on the seventh day (saturday)....

Just a shot in the dark here, but I think it is called Good Friday because on that day we were able to recieve forgiveness of our sins because He died on the cross.
