thenumberone : Trust me, I'm a member of "Anonymous". These attacks are part of a fringe group of free-radicals that have nothing to do with Anonymous except that they met in that group.

I think they have good intentions. That much is clear, However, they don't seem to be thinking things through. It seems to be a bunch of kids who are trying to be heard in any way they can. They are just taking it to the extreme. What they are doing is dangerous, but they don't seem to be taking that into account. It's a typical feeling of invulnerability that most young people have. However, if they don't stop what they're doing, they will be caught.

What they've done hasn't bothered me directly, so I have nothing bad to say.

XxChaosxX : But the thing is, they can't get caught. You talk about it like it's the same kids doing these things over and over again, but it's not. It's one group calling themselves Anonymous and doing one act, then some time later, another, completely unrelated group that may have never even heard of the first group's activities commits another crime / protest / whatever, and calls themselves Anonymous as well.

That's what people don't seem to understand about this. You can't stop Anonymous because there is no Anonymous. It's just a name people use.

Eh, All this group does is run around in masks and shut down government websites from Ddos hacking them, no biggy right?

All they really do is is us very high secured Ddos hacking programs to plug up all the bandwidth slots in a server. Any one can technically do that, just not at that power, unless you have their high secured software.

I remember back last year, maybe, I heard something about Anonymous trying to shut down facebook, but they never did... I wonder why?

pi0x : Well, a DDoS is a Distributed Denial of Service attack, the key word there being "Distributed". You need a LOT of users who feel the same way that you do--or a very large bot net--in order to bring down a large website through a DDoS attack. Government web sites are usually pretty easy to bring down because they're not set up to receive much traffic. However, a huge site like the facebook has multiple servers all around the world that are meant to keep the facebook running no matter what. Because of this, it is extremely hard to get the facebook's servers over loaded, and even still, it's hard to find enough partners in crime who don't use the facebook every day.

Lazlo Falconi : Yeah, you would need a lot of people to take down Facebook, since it has like 60,000 servers.(not sure of the current amount ) You would have to at least have 1000 or maybe more, depending on how much data each person sends. There is a slim chance that you're gonna be able to find that many people, that know what they're doing, and are willing to take down Facebook. I doubt I would ever participate in that, because I find Facebook to be extremely useful.

pi0x : Well you would need quite a few more than 1000 people with single internet connections to take down the facebook. It would probably take a botnet of over 20,000 PCs working over time to do that.
