Ive always thought about creating flash games but dont know where i should start. any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated because i dont really kno what im doing.

If you know how to use Flash and know Action script, you should find a good game tutorial online. I'm considering making a few of my own video tutorials in Flash (free of charge), showing how to make simple RPG games in Flash. Just search google for flash game tutorials.

I would recommend starting out with the Flash basics, get to know the interface and tools. Then when you feel a bit more comfortable try looking for tutorials on how to create a flash games. The hardest part is keeping it all in your mind, cause once you stop working with Flash for a while you'll most likely have to relearn it all over again like I need to do

Newgrounds has a ton of flash tutorials. There's even one that's 800 pages.

I'd say mayhaps go buy a cheap book. Things like that on the computer are all well and handy, but when you have a book you can be taking advantage of your whole computer screen... and basically have a whole nother computer screen.(essentially)

You should make simple animations first, and work you way up. You don't need a 10,000 frame project to start off with. Make animated icons and stuff.

i remember my first flash animations...they aren't much, but they are fun to make, simple too

well, i took a summer course to learn but I don't think it's necessary. also you need flash. I recommend you just try messing around with different features, like motion tweens (as i believe they're called), as those are the best for making simple animations. i suggest that when you draw things, you make every part separate so they can move independatly (it's a little more work but it makes tweens easier)

by the way, a motion tween is over a period of slides, where you have a starting and ending point for a certain object. over the duration of the slides, the object will move in a direct path from it's starting to it's ending position

basically, mess around and learn the simple things (yeah, that stuff is pretty basic). as far as code goes, i didn't learn much so ask other people around the board and search the internet for that stuff

Thats an interesting point you made there and I agree with that but would say that whatever works for you in this case. But I'm glad there was a thread made to discuss this, helped me to research the topic...

Concerning books anyways, you could even go up to your local library and perhaps borrow one of those books, if you can't afford one.
