We all know that Flash is retarded enough to not support Midi files. However, seeing that this game will have a different song for each level, using MP3's could take a lot of space (not to mention the unique title screen song); example:

Lets say we start out with 6 levels (a level for each character). If we compress each song in an MP3 format to a very minimum of 750 KB each (this is reducing the quality by a bit), that's 4.5 MB alone just on the music.

We could obviously have the music load externally, which would make the most sense, but for some people, the music may not start up for a while. Also this is bandwidth being sucked up.

I found something called 'FlashMidi' which I think supports loading Midi into flash:

I haven't really looked much into it yet but there might be other stuff out there.

Since we've got less than a month before this gets developed, we need to figure this out

Should we just have it so the MP3's load separately? I'll need to know this so that I can have the music prepared by Mid February.

Do you see any possible problems at all with having the MP3's load dynamically?

I didnt think of bandwidth...if we do the Midi thing, I wouldn't want to require the user to install the extra software but make it an option to do so if they want music. I do still want the title screen to have an MP3 background music (would be under 750 kb).
