Now I'm not defending rap music here because I absolutely despise the garbage, but I don't think it is to blame for the riots. In my mind, blaming rap music for the riots is the exact same thing as blaming Marilyn Manson for the Columbine shootings. Nothing made me more angry than finding out that people tried to blame one of my favorite artists for that horrible event. People who enjoy rap music probably feel the same way and they would probably be appalled if they heard that rap was being blamed for the riots.

Like most others I believe that music cannot be blamed any more than video games or TV, BUT the culture around rap isn't very pleasant so it wouldn't astonish me if the culture of rap would lead to violence.

"Rap music is full of imagery that young poor people can never have." I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THAT STATEMENT! First, off not all rappers end up with poor and pathetic lives. Many rappers like Jay-Z and Kanye West have become some of the most successful blacks. Not only that, but people like Eminem's albums (first few) were all about his life and the hardships that he's had to endure. Please don't insult rap music just from hearing bits and pieces of some lame newbie rappers.

Music can be very influential to the young mind.. TO THE YOUNG MIND is the key word here.. if adults are being driven insane by this music then they need to grow up and stop blaming their problems on music.

When it's being given to young people (Around like, 5-10) and they think that the songs are a good source of influence and all the stuff is cool, then yeah, I'd definitely put a blame to the music instead of other stuff. But it probably isn't JUST the music that keeps them influenced in bad things, as Jordan said, so it's not 100% at fault here, Nya~.
