I finished up reading the first book in the raner's apprentice series and started a different series: Alex Cross. I love both series and even though I'm at the very beginning of both series, I can tell they will be great reads

Ah, a book I recently read and have read before because it is so good is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.  This is an excellent novel for those who enjoy the history of the Dark Ages.

I recently went on an Ayn Rand rampage, and ended up reading Anthem, Fountainhead, and Atlas Shrugged. Frankly, they very nearly blew my mind, but I somehow managed to keep my head. I must say, all three were impressive and I enjoyed them very much. However, I will also say that all three can be slow from the start, but rewarding when you finish. To any others who are planning on reading any of them in the near future, I heartily recommend that you stick with it. By the 700th page of Atlas Shrugged, you simply won't want to put it down. I will also agree with earlier posts about A Song of Ice and Fire. I read them last summer and came up with similar opinions as the above members had. Tomorrow I am going to start A Tale of Two Cities. I'll let you guys know how that one goes.

The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.
Entertaining, humorous, worth while read.

And a while ago I re-read Call of the Wild and White Fang - both by Jack London- on a whim.
Dark stories, but a refreshing read.

I recently read "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell. It's an interesting study of the "Reincarnation" theory and how lives can often affect each other in tangible but subtle ways, even when spanning hundreds or thousands of years. I am now currently reading this short story collection "Drown" by Junot Diaz. So far I enjoy it because of his detached prose. Every situation, no matter how awkward or depressing, is examined without judgement. This allows the stories a great emotional impact because it's almost like simply saying "these things happen" while letting the reader deal with the consequences.

PrivateRyan1988 : OMG I LOVE THE HOST.  xD  Seriously, though, I do.  <3

Let's see... a book I have read recently?  "Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell, I believe.  Read it for school, and it was quite nice and interesting considering it was from the viewpoint of a horse.    Good read.
