Yo, dudes, back on topic.

If the ice caps melted, how much extra water would there be? Wouldnt they have displaced there mass?

Well BB if the ice is going to melt I don't think it's going to replace the entire mass but most of the mass will be covered in water.

Fill up a glass (right to the very top) and put in an iceblock in it. As it melts (and untill it melts completly) monitor it and see what the water level does.

You have to watch to the very end, or atleast let it melt completly, so you can see if the water level goes up (and over flows) then goes down. This could possibly mean there would be no global floods.

well, antarctica is partially land so some of the ice is not displaced already.

but even so you add more water and heat and you increase evaporation rates as well which would mean less water in the ocean sometimes....

Well, think about this. If the ocean tempretures rise, they will expand right? Would a global up in tempreture of 5*C flood our countrys? (I do alot of physics, but im not to sure how to figure this out).

5*C is pretty impossible for the oceans to rise by, I mean, thats alot of water and would require alot of energy (I can find that out if you want ).

A friends Dad (a highschool science teacher) said did I also consider that the oceans are salt water but icebergs are fresh water.

*Holds back from flamming and making his one day celebrity appearance on vizzed also his first banning.... but not his first close incounter experiance for any of you who remember when he went on trial *

Ok well first off. This global warming stuff is so ****ed up i don't even know where to begin. The plant earth goes in natural cycles where the temp rises and falls. The big question here is "Is man kind able to alter any enviromental changes, specifically in this case: Killing the entire human race (as tree huggers would have it out to be)" My answer: no. And many would agree. The thing that really pushed this campaign forward is one man: Al Gore. His documentry on this subject (although jam packed with halfsidedness, questionable facts, misleading statistics, and lies) created a media frenzey. Now every tom, dick, and harry are all up in arms about the environment and buying such outlandish things as spending
**** loads of money on eco friendly bull**** all while driving thier escalade, or youkon, or what-have-you. Truely hypocritical. So the movement is pretty f'd up. Plus the movie has made people believe things that aren't fact and use them as the basis of their arguments without doing further research.

Now i am going to touch on a couple of other posts....

Lowell the day after tomorrow is 1. an alright movie, 2. entirely impossible. 3. a liberal piece of propaganda.
And the thing with the glaciers, i believe, was that at the end of the last ice age was in north america (mostly canada) there was a huge glacier. It melted and created a giant sort of lake inside itself. Well then the "ice dam" or wall around the out side of the glacial lake broke. Sending billions of gallons of fresh water rockin' out acrost what is now the united states and right into the ocean.

Big Bob those "cyclones" are called tornadoes

The clouds would have a green house effect if they let sunlight in. Such as carbon dioxide and other clear gasses. Dust and dirt.... not so much. Meteor=coldness.

Dragon master, you quoted a system of a down song....
I saw this interview once with the guitarist who bascily said they are activists for war but not the environment. then went on to explain how he drives a hummer.

So my messege to you is: Live on! Start stuff on fire! Drive old cars! Enjoy your life. And don't forget to vote for me in '08

You put some time into that John, lol. You come back and your 2nd post is another one of your famous "massive" and "in depth" with "lots of thought" posts.

I found a little bit of contradiction to the liberals.

A while back they were claiming that we have proof of global warming because it was warmer than normal and no snow.

Just a few days ago I saw on the news (don't remember which channel), there were liberals saying that the reason for all the snow and cold is caused by global warming...did I miss something? Is this a contradiction or is there something I'm not understanding here?

It seems no matter what the weather is like, they are gonna blaim it on global warming to get there way.

And yes, the earth does go thru phases as John mentioned, glad someone pointed that out. We've only been accurately recording the weather for 100+ years?

Well and here is the deal. A lot of Al Gore's documentry is based on arctic core samples. And i have read some source that have stated that Mr. Gore took numerous samples(like 7 or 9) and only used 1 or 2 which fit his argument. The others all showed higher increases in carbon throughout history. More like what we are experiancing today.

The clouds do let the sunlight in, but at the same time they let stuff out. Im not sure if its inferred rays, or just regular rays from the sun but all the soot and crap in the atomosphere prevents this stuff from getting out as easy.

From a science based point of view is this possible?
Yes.

From my current known knowledge has this actually happend?
No. I havnt seen any hard evidence or test they've done to back up this theory.

Can global 'warming' make cold things colder?
Possibly. IF the extra heat in higher atmospheres can stop or slow cloud movment then in theory its possible that the clouds moving. But I really doubt this can happen.

John, the hurricanes I was talking about was hurrican katrina and all that. They wernt tornados.

Global warming causes a freeze, because the ice caps melt but the cold water comes over here, to it totally screws up the whole earth and puts different climates in the wrong places. By the way, david, I have a problem opening the "off topic" thread:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:Inetpubvhostsvizzed.comhttpdocsvizzedboardlibfunction.php on line 397

That's what I get.

globwl warming, if not solved, will cause huge catastrophies on a planet-wide scale. the first result in the nearer future will be increased storm strength, ice cap melting and severe flooding. this will wipe out many islands and areas near the water including many pacific ocean islands, florida and new york city. after that the cold water from the melted ice caps will cool the waters and weaken storm systems to the extent of a global drought. basically, we're screwed if we don't fix it.

Hell again, Geo. Well, some people may have the same opinions, there's a thing called "Having something in common" and it's on a global scale *gasp* can you believe THAT? People and friends liking the same things I couldn't IMAGINE two or more people in the world liking the same thing.

So, I have a question. All we ever hear about are all these "evidences" that humans are causing global warming and that the world is going to end because of all the bad stuff humans are doing right?

Has anyone EVER heard someone tell us what evidences would disprove the theory of human caused global warming?

That is a good point, and im not taking sides, but the only thing I can think of is that the earth goes through its own cooling/warming cycles. And causes things like elninio (I think.).

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
