Snowdeath : It's beautiful here in the summertime. The winters suck though. I've also always wanted to visit Canada. Not urban Canada though. I wanna come up there, get a cabin somewhere near a lake and spend my days spliffin, fishin, and havin a few beers. Ahh good times.

Wow I commend you for tryin, I hope u stick with it, what BNuge said as well as the other guys about exercising to releif stress and occupy your focus and concentration is a good idea to get over the need or urge and forget about it. I hear nicotene patches are expensive, plus I feel that the many other things you can occupy yourself are a great alternative. Jeez though I can't imagine how hard it is since I don't smoke, but it probably takes effort. I hope u kick the habit.

I smoke.. have done for the last 2 years or so. I go through about 10-15 cigarettes a day but when Im on a night out drinking I can smoke a 30 packet within a few hours. Id like to quit one day (sooner the better) but its so difficult for me.. im around welding fumes and smoke all day so its hard not to think about having a cigarette. At the moment my partner and I are organising our wedding for August and it gets very stressfull at times, she smokes aswell but not as much as me. I know for a fact ill be quitting before we have a kid.. which were going to try for start of next year (just practising at the moment).

I have a huge respect for people who have quit smoking and I never smoke around people who dont smoke, especially children.

I love all the people that say "quitting is easy, just throw them away", no its not that easy, i have tried quitting cold turkey... for others it has worked but it doesn't work for everyone. I think at some point ill be able to quit, when i get encouraging people in my life, and get my confidence level up.

Congrats man, quitting is hard (both my parents quit cold turkey when I was six) and I have to commend you.

The thing about quitting, I have learned, is that you have to want to quit. People around you can badger all they want, but if your heart isn't in it, then it will not happen. So many people I know try and try but never succeed until something clicks and then it is like they never did it in the first place.

Apparently I am the reason my folks quit. I go into massive coughing fits when I am around smokers, and at first they thought I was just doing it when I noticed them. Then one morning my dad was getting ready for work and lit up and he heard me start coughing in my room, sound asleep but still affected. They quit that same day and haven't had one since. Dad said he had a drag once a few years later just to see and it tasted horrible.
