I say it definitly depends, I mean in certain scenarios it could be ok, and as some have stated, there are a reason for ratings. You wouldn't put a sexual scene in a Disney movie, so why would you put it in a mario? You wouldn't which is why I say it depends.

As long it it fits in the scene and has a reason its ok but not to just have some naked chick there that is always strange

it all depends if its underware nudity ok but s-e-x is not fit for a game seriussly who puts sex in a game not me thats who!

If it's part of the story/immersion (like in Madison's first chapter in Heavy Rain) it's OK, and there is a reason for M and AO ratings, but even GTA is taking it a little far these days. (yeah I know it's cliche to rag on GTA)

Lets face it we are all nude without clothes. It's not a bad thing but then again, its not nice to go to work nude unless your a porn star. So I think it really depends on the situation which makes it appropriate.

Many people look at sex as if it's bad, but I believe the human body was meant to be seen, not covered up; though not at all times. I think if it fits well in a game then sure, put nudity in it but it must have the appropriate rating and most inform the buyer that it has nudity in it...So, some parent doesn't go out and buy a good looking game and once her 8 year old child begins to play it, it has people taking off their tops.

I don't thin video games are meant for children, if they were we shouldn't and wouldn't have M games, or 18+ games. Mostly ever child plays video games, though adults do too - just not as often.

if its e-t of cousre no nudity. m games its ok to show boobs occasionnaly. when it get more than that it becomes worthy of the adults only rating. if you dont want it you dont have to buy it.

In all honesty, I don't really think it should be in video games, the main reason being that the primary fan-base for games is kids and I know I don't want my kids paying hookers to F in the back of my car in GTA, etc...I mean the only reason they put sexually explicit stuff in games is because sex sells just like the hooker on GTA but does it make it right, NO!!!!! Video games are an art and when the sexual content is displayed in this manner it takes away from the art and concept...Yu never seen famous artists making harcore, explict, sexual art, it was classy when it was done. Thats the same way it should be with video games, if done at all...Just my opinion---->

And what would your children be doing playing a game that isn't meant for children?
For example, GTA IV is rated M for Mature 17+
Saying that a game that isn't meant for children should be censored makes no sense at all, and that's what ratings are for.
It's not the game developers fault that some of parents are irresponsible and buy their kids the game anyway.
So why shouldn't a game for adults contain adult themes, why should it be censored?

I am totally fine with it as long as it's not the whole game (unless it's an H-game, then anything goes). Honestly, there is more nudity and sex on prime time tv shows than there is in most video games.

Realism. Nudity in video games Furthers the fact that You the player, are guiding he life of a Whole different character. Allowing games ot have nudity Shows more realistic Game play. Im not saying Everyone would enjoy some kind of SEX simulation game, if you want that go play an H-game or one of those online adult 3d things..

But As we all know in Real life here. nudity is not always sexual. It could be as simple as a bath or getting dressed. As for Scenes with NAKED characters or whatever.. I have never had a problem with that. Nudity is just another part of life. As such it should have no problems being Portrayed in the Adult section of Media and Art. Look at television and movies.. Nudity is shown all the time in those, but more often its the sense of Vulnerability, over sexuality. Its the time something is most likely to happen..

Personally, Id love to see more realistic events occur in Rpg games.. such as when your party goes to that one room inn.. LOL. Also Extra status effects such as bad smell would be interesting in a game.. just think about it.. as your character explores different worlds.. they should look and smell it to some degree as well. Not too mention the extra quest stuff..

EX: hunting down a type of bee with the help of A flower scented shampoo.

Welcome to the newest final fantasy.. were we have also added things You would see in a sims game.. as you explore characters get hungry., thirsty, tired, and dirty. Along with the option of a Rest or camp outside in that type of game..

Wel back on topic: I see no reason not to have nudity in video game, as the video game industry has recently Become a full scale ARt form like Radio, sculpture, painting, and Television. If they all have nudity, I dont see why video games would be different. Considering how Far people have been working on Making Realistic Game characters..

Partial nudity is one thing, and I think it's okay if it somehow relates to the game. Full nudity shouldn't be allowed unless it really fits perfectly in the game. Hardcore sex just shouldn't be allowed in games period. Games are not made for that. If you want hardcore sex in a game, put it in an adults only (AO) rated game that can only be purchased for that matter. Not in games that weren't created for that purpose.

I don't think that nudity should be allowed in video games that are sold in regular stores, and if there is some in the game it should be sold in a store for that. Nudity doesn't really have any place in the game unless they're just trying to attract those customers, since the majority of games sell fine without nudity. While people may argue in favor of realism, you're playing a video game, not real life. If people want the games to be so real, they can go out and do that, in the real world. I believe that nudity for the sake of realism is just unnecessary, and since the world contains all types of people, even just for the sake of realism could be used in an inappropriate manner by inappropriate people. And so, if games are going to contain nudity they should be sold in stores separate from mainstream game that specifically cater to those people seeking this "real" experience.

I dont think that hardcore sex should be aloud. I think brief showing of the breasts only are fine. But mega64 said it best:

I wouldn't care if a game had nudity or not(even though I can't play God Of War right now because of it), but I definitely feel hardcore sex is not necessary.

I believe that anything should be allowed in video games. There are artsy movies that have full-on sex, why not video games? They have explored some very adult themes in video games so far, why not that?

As far as I know, the core audience for video games is in the age range 20-35 ish, not under 18 as many people would like to believe. As such, the majority of audiences are adults, so I think its perfectly reasonable for video games to contain so called 'adult material' such as sex, nudity, profanity and excess violence.

As many people have likely said before, movies do all of those and children are protected from them by law and by a solid ratings system that is universally understood and respected. Currently ratings on video games are not as well defined and law is somewhat flimsier, as well as many people not completely understanding video games, and as such people of an age who are not psychologically experienced enough to deal with these themes are exposed to them without due care and consideration because people are either ignorant of the themes dealt with in such media or don't understand the severity.
I believe if the rating system on video games were to reflect that of the movie industry and 'adult' video games treated in much the same way 'adult' movies are, I see no reason why adult themes should not be explored in video games.

Edit - just took another look at the poll and spotted "Video games are for enjoyment, not for sexual pleasure"... Is sexual pleasure not a valid form of enjoyment?
