Not really. Some times, it depends on the situation.

A famous comedian once said that he had this dilemma when he found one hundred dollars in a wallet on the street. He thought about how he would want the money back.
Then I realized I would want to be taught a lesson

:p <-- (wut is this? Emoticoin fail!)

Generally, if there's no way to track down the owner of the money (i.e. you just found a quarter or a few bucks with no I.D.) the only reasonable logic is that, honestly, the odds are against the owner getting it back. If, however, you find it in a wallet with an address or a phone number, I personally would do my best to get the money back to whoever it is.
This actually happens at the store I work at all the time. Some poor sucker left two credit cards there just last week.

For me, it also depends on the situation and the amount of money. A measly 20-100 dollars,I wouldn't bother....if it was thousands of dollars, of course I'm keeping it.

If you decide to leave money on the side of a road then you obviously have poor money management skills and it should not be returned to the owner. One way or another its going in someones pocket, so why not yours?

Everything in my own thought-process would say keep it--but I would imagine that I would have too much of a guilty conscience to not turn it in; if I lost money anywhere I know that I would want to get it back...albeit the chances of someone turning it in is slim to none.

Well this way, if no one rightfully claims it (including the corrupt cops taking it for themselves), then perhaps the police will return it to me guilt-free.

If there's no way to figure out who dropped it, then yeah. I'll also probably see if there's anyone nearby who dropped it. But if there's any sort of ID available, like they dropped their wallet, then I'd definitely give it back . I'm not evil.

Well if the title says there is just money on the side of the road, of course I'd keep it. There is no way to track down money if it isn't in a wallet or purse. If it was a wallet, I wouldn't take it because I'm a terrible thief...

But really, I guess I'd feel valiant if I gave it back.

Yes it really just depends on the situation. If there was a name or a address/phone number yes I would return it to that person. But If it was 1 or 2 dollars laying on the street then no because it really wouldn't be possible to find the owner unless he was right in front of you.

If I would find a wallet on the street with ID and everything I guess I would try to find the owner. If however there is no ID or anything I would probably keep it because I am too lazy to try and find the owner (I also have a problem trusting people, don't know why)
I find change on the streets every now and then and keep it (Nobody is going to miss those anyway :þ )

Unless there's some sort of ID along with that money, I'd keep it. I mean, it's not like I'm going to find the owner of it without ID.

I'd only keep it if there was no way to easily return it to the owner. Like, it was just a bill or there was a wallet with no identification inside. Most people, at least that I know, don't go to the police station to look for their lost wallets.
