I look at everybody else's collections with intrigue and "wish I had that game", but particularly Davideo7, AVGN, Pete Dorr and Gamester81 have collections I'm in complet awe of.

A: My favorite classic console is the N64, which I started playing when I was 6 (My first console altogether was the NES), and my favorite modern system is the PS3, which I started playing at age 16. Out of both of them, I have to say that the PS3 is my most favorite.

A: I would pick the Vita, PS3 and N64, and for the one game to play, I'd pick Uncharted 2, Persona 4 Golden, and Ocarina of Time.

A: My preference in fighting game is to have a 3D environment, since it's much more open, but my favorite fighting game is a 2D fighter, which is Mortal Kombat 9.

A: The hardest game I've beaten was Persona 3: FES, which took roughly 90 hours to beat, as I died a ton.

A: My favorite side scroller is either Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island or Resogun. I prefer the True ending, as it feels most complete.

A: I don't as much feel as if it'll rot, more or less make cameos here and there (Smash Bros and assorted Capcomedies), but not anything of a main game.

I'd make it a first person explorational survival game, I have to say my ideal game I'd want to make would be similar to Rust or what Sword Art Online was in the anime, but with many more options. (Such as a log out button)

A: I didn't get to play any of those games yet ironically.

I sold off my Genesis and SNES unfortunately, and those are consoles I'd like to collect for the most.

alexanyways : I highly suggest you collect Genesis stuff. (it is better cough cough) Genesis games are easier to find complete and much cheaper. Nintendo products are going through the roof right now, Genesis is getting up there but still pretty reasonable. It is a lot of fun man, going out to yard sales and thrift stores and seeing those beautiful Genesis boxes under glass, they need you man. They have been sitting there for too long.

What do you know of/ What's your opinion on games going out of print? 
And, more importantly for my interests, do you think Fire Emblem Awakening will stop being sold soon? 

Best Buy among others have already begun to clearance it off online and in stores. I just remember before I knew what it was, Radiant Dawn was down to $20 on the Wii, and it's not like Wii games aren't sold anymore, but that title now goes for $60+ since it's out of print. This is a popular series we're talking about. Kind of like the Pokemon games. 

So, yeah, original question: Why do you think companies stop production (especially for popular titles) on certain games?

danielbelitch : I know that after the first few months, the publisher stops printing them, and that when it gets a Greatest Hits nod, it gets continually printed. Hence when less popular games are rarer and the Greatest Hits editions are easy to find.

Not much you can do when they stop making a profit.

Nintendo as a publisher always keeps their entire first party lineup at hand. Fire Emblem on the other hand, has always been snubbed when people look for it maybe a year down the road. Look at Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn, all of them are really rare, and ended up costing 100 dollars nowadays. Keep your fingers crossed, but given how Nintendo abandons Fire Emblem, it doesn't look good. The series is nowhere near as popular as Pokemon unfortunately according to Nintendo.
