I started with the first Final Fantasy when I was like 7 years old, that was the start of things for me. I have loved the Final Fantasy franchise pretty much my entire gaming life, they are my favorite games of all time. While 7 is my favorite for many reasons, plot, character development, first time we actually get to see a character killed in real time 3d. I also very much enjoyed Final Fantasy X. I thought it had the most unique storyline of all the games, as well as the most interesting character personalities. I was a little put off at first about the sphere grid, which is why it is not my favorite, but after a while of playing I found it quite easy to navigate and a cool idea and system for growing your characters. Overall, both are very good games, but 7 edges out 10 simply because it was the first one of its kind to do what it did, at a time when games were literally "for kids". 7 turned the gaming world on its head.

I don't know, I personally like FF6 the most. I think it's vastly greater than FF7 because it simply has a better story and characters. Especially characters. No offense intended to the Cloud and Sephiroth fangirls, (yes, when it comes to Sephiroth and Cloud, there are no fanboys, only fangirls) but I think that they're kind of.... emo is the word, right? Yes. Emo. Or Goth. Sephiroth is bad ass, but he fails in comparison to Kefka. Kefka's just so... funny, delightful, disturbing, evil, insane, illogical, artistic, intelligent, and frightening, all at the same time. Also, Kefka's final form is incredible, his theme, Dancing Mad, is even better than One-Winged Angel, he was crazy to begin with while Sephiroth was a hero-turned-villain, and let's face it, Kefka actually DOES destroy the world when Sephiroth only tries to. To my last comment, I didn't realize that FF 12 isn't a choice. That being said, there isn't much else to say except for the fact my second favorite would be FFIV(4) all for the fact that it has many interesting characters, good plot, and party members that don't suck. It's good, but opinions are opinions.

My vote goes to Final Fantasy 3. I haven't played any of the other Final Fantasy games other then this one. Final Fantasy 7 looks fun and it looks like I might download it for my PlayStation sometime, but for now, Final Fantasy 3 is my vote.

I've played every final fantasy besides the one with the weird battle system, you know the one with lightning or whatever has the main character. That being said the graphics may not be has good has the later ones. But in regards to being the full package (story, gameplay, and characters) none will ever compare to ff6 in my opinion. Not to mention that kefka is one of those antagonists that you actually find yourself hating before he's finally dead and gone. He just makes ff6 great all by himself and then when you add in locke, terra, a evil yet good ninja, and a yeti I just don't see how the others can compare.

He sounds like someone I'd get along with I've been recently playing FF I&II DOS on here too, it feels great playing the game (Well graphically improved remake XD) that started a cult following and entailed with a huge successful series

Honestly 10 was my all time favorite which kind of tied with 7 to be honest. 10 and 7 had really good story lines. For some reason when Yuna loses Tidus it always makes me tear a little . As time went on Final Fantasy kind of lost it's touch. 12 was pretty good had an interesting story line 13 had an interesting Story line with good graphics but the game play was not my favorite. They are working on 15 to be honest I think it's getting old. Square Enix really needs to put some stuff together if they want to make a really good final fantasy that's better than 10 and 7.

There is not doubt that Square was at its best from the mid '90s to the early '00s. That was when they released many of their best games of all time, including my personal favorite in Xenogears. It was also the best time for Final Fantasy. From FF6 up through FF10, including Tactics. They were all fantastic games. Sadly, the franchise has steadily gone downhill ever since the travesty that was X-2. In my honest opinion, the best of the bunch has to be Final Fantasy 6. All the pieces fell into place with this game. Everything was expertly crafted to near perfection. What truly sets this game part from the others, in my opinion, is the main villain. Kefka is one of my all time favorite baddies, and I don't just mean from video games. Along with the Joker and Darth Sidious, he is one of my three favorite villains of all time. I know Sephiroth is easily the most beloved of the Final Fantasy villains, but he just doesn't do it for me. I feel that he is too stereotypical, too bland and transparent.

On top of that, I think that Locke and Terra are the best protagonists from any final fantasy game. They are most definitely less annoying than Cloud, Squall, or Tidus. I think we all can agree on that.
