I've lost both grandfathers and a great uncle on my mom's side. I'm fortunate to have lost so few and I appreciate that fact every day. Those who have died, did so due to heavy smoking and drinking on both sides of my family. Since getting addicted to substances is likely in my genes I've tried to stay away from both.

Through 14 years of me living, 7 family members passed away.
Some of them were close and others I never ever got to see.

I have never attended a funeral though. Mainly because I was too young for most of them and the others, I had never knew so there was little point attending.

Both of my grandpa's, I was incredibly young when they both passed away, so I didn't really understand what was happening. One of my only recollections of my one of my grandpa's was my mom and dad telling me that my grandma could use a hug.

In 5th grade my grandma died which was absolutely devastating. It happened right around Christmas of 2000, I still remember being in 5th grade and being called to the office and my dad standing there. Such a heartbreaking feeling.

A few years later my Uncle Andy died, it was awful because the day he was suppose to come home from the hospital one of his lungs collapsed and he was gone.

In my 25 years of being alive those are the family members that I've lost, I'm lucky to have not lost that many, but the ones that I have lost that I actually remember have been awful.

In my lifetime, I've out lived my Great Grandfather on my dad's side of the family about 30 years ago, I barely remember him now (Natural Causes, he was my best friend from the age of about 4-6).  I've out lived both sets of grandparents (All over the last 20 years), the most recent being the Grandfather who raised me he passed on about 5 years ago (All four Grandparents were natural causes.)  I lost a fiance about 20 years ago when she was struck by a drunk driver (Don't know if that counts since she wasn't technically family), and the one that haunts me every moment of every day is my 16 month old daughter that I lost to a rare form of childhood cancer about 6 years ago.  She was the world to me, and of all the people I have lost in my life, she is by far the one who hurts the most.

I think that sums up the immediate family.  If you wanted to add distant family (Second cousins, great aunts/uncles, etc), good friends, and my wife's family (The ones that have passed on since meeting her) then this list could get to be pretty long.

Good, bad or indifferent, our experiences make us who we are.  And I for one like the person I have become.  Sometimes, our experiences make us stronger so we can help others in similar situations.  Sometimes, experiences make no sense to us, or just hurt, but those experiences can go to show us how precious the person we lost was to us.  I feel that the best way to honor the people we have lost is to keep their memory close to our heart, remember the good times, and live our own life to the fullest so that when we are gone, those we leave behind can remember us fondly as well.

I have only lost one family member in the duration of my life: my grandad (on my dad's side). He spoke Serbian, so whenever i saw him (which was only about 3 times), i couldn't realy talk to him. He died when i was 9, and today i'm wishing i had the opportunity to talk to him before he passed.

I think I've been fairly fortunate to not have lost many people in my family this far in my life. There's only 5 major deaths, and they're almost all my grandfathers siblings or nephews/neices.

None in my immediate family, for which I am thankful.

One of my great-grandfathers died of intestinal cancer in 1994; I was too young to remember.
I had a distant great-great-grandmother in Iowa who passed away of natural causes in 2001 at the age of 106, making her the oldest person in my family's recorded history.
My great-grandmother died at 83 in 2004 due to complications from a car accident. Her husband, my other great-grandfather, died at 87 in 2006 from failing health, onset by the loss of his wife.
My uncle quit smoking and converted to Christianity, then suddenly passed away one month later in his sleep of unknown causes, at 51 years old in 2006.

None of those affected me quite so badly as when my grandmother on my mom's side passed away after an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 63 on December 30, 2012. That pretty much split my entire family apart and the effects are still being felt. Not only did it strike me with sorrow, but I ended up losing my home, and so I had to frantically figure out my life. I'm still sort of working on that; since she died I've been living paycheck to paycheck. The day after she died was also the day I started drinking.

Five have passed away 2 in the past year.

Nana (dad's mother)
My dad's brother
Uncle Jim (Gramps' brother)
Gramps (Dad's father)
My mother

If it counts also my dad's best friend Oregon died a few years ago too...

I've only been to my Gramps' and mother's funeral/wake.  Nana and my uncle died when I was too young,  Jim and my dad's friend lived too far away.

3 of my family members have died in my lifetime. My aunt, my uncle, and my grandma. My aunt and uncle died from cancer (I don't know what type of cancer). My grandma died from a lot of stuff. She had diabetes, a heart problem, sores, stress, etc.. I still have the croshayed hats she gave me.

Two, I think? Yeah, it's pretty sad... One of them was my grandfather who died when I was 6 years old or so. Poor guy had hypoglycemia, diabetes, and maybe cancer (I don't quite remember). Apparently, the farm he grew up on was close to a nuke testing area (close as in ~45 miles), so we think he also had radiation in his body.

The second was my cousin, whom I barely knew. All I remember was him tickling the heck out of me... He was only 18 when he died from a fire... :C

Sadly my grandmother passed away and that caused a great disturbance within my family. My father was very close to his mother and he felt like an arm was cut off as soon as he lost her. I felt very bad for my father cause he was always proud to talk about her and I loved her very much as well. She help us soo many times when our family was in desperate need. I use to love going over to her house she owned her crunch within her house. It was nicely designed and very roomy. I also lost twin cousins. I was looking forward to seeing them but when my aunt gave birth to them they came out so small and they couldn't survive so they died really quickly. They were both small enough to fit in a show box and when I saw it during the funeral I just broke down in tears because those two only saw life for only a moment and didn't get the chance to live it. It was not fair but than again life is not fair. My grandma's funeral was very depressing cause a lot of different people came even her son that was in jail came to she her and he also saw his daughter there that he didn't get to see for a very long time. There were so many mixed emotions it was all very unbearable.

Luckily for me, I lost family members only when I was younger, and I did not get to know them all that well, so I did not have to deal with the harrowing experience that death can cause others. However, I have still had four family members die (and probably some others that I am not connected to/was not informed of). Two of them died of natural causes in their old ages. One of them died when he went off to war. The last family member was due to drug overdose.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
