For me, it would have to be Zelda I. Now, granted it's been a long time since I last played Zelda II but from what I remember, it wasn't that much fun.

I personally like Zelda II. I get why people would like Zelda I more, but I tend to like it when the stories are more developed. In Zelda I, you got nothing unless you had the instruction manual to read the story. I also thought Zelda I was harder than the Zelda II. I died way more times on the first one and it took me a lot longer to figure out. But they are both pretty easy after a while.

I definitely love the first one better. I appreciate the second Zelda for trying to do something new and incorporate RPG and platforming, but that just didn't seem right for Link. Besides that, the game is very difficult and tough to get through without throwing something. x3

But I do like it for one of the most epic quotes in video game history. "I AM ERROR."

I think that Zelda I is better because I like the dungeons and the story. Zelda II it's too hard and confusing for me.

I like the first Zelda game, as I got used to play it when I was young, I had a CD which had the Nintendo games in it, so I played the first Zelda game more than Zelda II, so my vote is for Zelda

I like the original much better, but I no longer hate the second one. When I first played the original, I could never get past level 5. I used to watch my mom play it, and she made it seem pretty easy, but I sucked. When I came back to it after a few years, I did much better for some reason. Zelda II however, continually kicks my butt. I'm playing it right now, and I'm posting here because I got so frustrated that I had to take a break. Not only is it very hard, the style is totally different from every other Zelda game. That was a big part of why fans disliked it so much. I have to say though, it's growing on me.

I prefer Zelda 1, even though I played Zelda 2 for a few minutes. Still, I think Zelda 1 is better in my opinion due to the fact that it's 100% overhead perspective, which most 2D Zelda games have. While in Zelda 2, is only overhead perspective while traveling in the over world.

The original Zelda was by far the better of the two, but without the second one Nintendo wouldn't have learned from it as a mistake.
I will say though I prefer the original for obvious reasons.
