If you want people to think this is a cool place, paint it a cool color, like red. alexanyways' idea about gaming magazines is a good idea too.

Wait, I forgot, are you going to have computers so that they can play computer games too? If not, I think that would be a good idea.

Overlord_ash : Well I am a fan of arcades and I wish you the best of luck on your business. I would try to mix a healthy blend of old and new generation gaming if I had an arcade. I would include pinball machines and even some of the old arcade games from the 70s/80s (Pac-Man asteroids etc.) Far as age limits that might be tough because today’s kids are exposed to more games of graphic content than before but I would say kids 13 and up for the mature games just to make sure you cover yourself.


It wouldn’t be a bad idea to mix in some recreation. Air Hockey was one of my favorite games as a kid and I’m sure it’s still very popular along with darts, ping pong and pool.
I’m not sure what you mean by seating but I have heard stories on the local news here about arcades selling unlimited passes so I assume that would be of interest for people who run out of quarters regularly…

I would also try to make the arcade as accessible as possible for people with disabilities…

bvd1022 : thnak you so much, i never thought about people with disabiltys i would have completely overlooked that and would have felt so bad when someone showed up with a health issue

Overlord_ash : No problem… I have a disability so it is a natural for me to think about accessibility when it comes to things like this. I was thinking about you’re business idea and I started remembering this little mini arcade of sorts I use to go to in a mall in New York. There wasn’t anything special in particular about how this place was laid out but I do remember that they had like little stations where one side would have tables and TVs hooked up to like a Playstation or an N64 or any platform that was popular at the time.


I remember you said you were planning on having next generation consoles in your place so that might be a way you might want to lay it out. If I remember right it was kind of a mix of a mini-arcade and a coffee house. I don’t know if that helps you at all but I figured since I remembered this place I use to go to that I would bring it up.
