Poliwrath seems to be more offensive, while Politoed is a more defensive pokemon.
So in battle I'd prefer a Poliwrath, but I think Politoed looks pretty awesome.

Poilwrath because when it eveolves into Politoad it goes back to being just a plain old water type. The stats it needs for its fighting moves to be effective go down and it basically goes back to being a Poilwhirl with green skin and frog feet.
