Hi all, just one quick question

Has anyone out there ever caught Mew in Blue/Red or yellow by using the tricks and glitches described on various websites or did you all be naughty and use a cheat cartridge?

Me personally i cheated as none of the tricks and glitches ever worked for me.

I have the yellow version in my real life, but no matter how hard I tried, the glitches, that are suggested, never worked for me too...And I was wondering, if they're true!

I've done it using the glitch before. In fact that's the only way I have gotten it. I think it was Yellow version and I remember how to get it too if anyone's interested

Zamiel : Really? I've finished my pokedex(on real life yellow version) with a lot of hard work (the trading pokemon was the most difficult part for me), and I don't want to restart it .
Will your trick work, if the game is finished and I have beaten all the trainers in the game?
But, even if this trick wouldn't work for me, it might work for other people!
So, please, tell us your secret!

The trick will NOT work for you, Noelia. Wanna know why? Because, since you stated "I have beaten all the trainers in the game"(If you did, that is), you need to have the gambler in front of the underground path NOT defeated, nor the youngster with a Slowpoke after Nugget Bridge. Anyways, this is only 1 out 3 methods so don't panic yet. First, walk outside the underground path take 1 step from the door(south) and immediately press start! Followed by(you are going to need a Pokemon with Fly) flying to Cerulean City. Then, go up Nugget Bridge and battle the Youngster with a Slowpoke. Once defeated, head to Lavender town and walk west, right before the exit, you might want to Save in case you fail, so after you Save, exit Lavender Town, and right before you leave, your Menu will open, close it and the battle with Mew commences. Okay, Mew is at a really low level so don't bother using high level Pokemon, however the catch rate is rather low, so try paralyzing it and confusing it, get it to low HP and it's all yours(Ultra Balls are recommended, somewhere around 10). That's the easiest and quickest method anyway.

Requirements:
1) UNdefeated Gambler in front of the Underground Path
2) UNdefeated Youngster after the Nugget Bridge
3) Fly HM

Crono : Thank you for posting the trick
But I don't think that I'll restart my game, because it's too difficult to find all of my old friends and trade with them all those pokemons, which are needed to fill my pokedex again
But I'm sure that some people will find this trick useful

Zamiel : thanks for the try, though

You can use this trick to get different kinds of pokemon like Dragonite or Golem and I think it depends on the opposing sides pokemon special stat. I too already knew the trick from along time ago.

Crono : you can also use Teleport.

I have caught Mew in Red with the glitch. I honestly don't even know what you mean when you talk about cartridge cheats. Can anyone enlighten me?

Well, you can get Mew as early as before beating Misty, so I would go with that method.

The first method is at the earliest point in the game during which this glitch can be performed. It would be a good idea to have open spaces in your party, as sometimes the game may freeze when you try to withdraw Mew from the PC. Make sure you also have something other than a normal Poké Ball to catch him with, as these are sometimes not strong enough. As you progress through the steps, you'll realize you will also need an Abra. And seeing as the Mew is at level 7, you better have something with a low enough level that it won't kill the mew on the first move.

Fight your way through all of the challengers on Nugget Bridge.
Catch an Abra any way that you can, but don't engage the Jr. Trainer (Marked #7) who hides in the grass on the left of Route #24. This will come later.
Place Abra in your party if it's not already.
Make your way towards that Jr. Trainer, marked #7 on the map on Route #24. He's the one that says "I saw your feat from the grass" when he challenges you.
Save the game at this point.
Stand in front of the Jr. Trainer, just outside of his sight. Move down until he sees you. As soon as he does, immediately press . The exclamation point will not be above his head yet, not until actually Teleporting.
Select your Abra and use Teleport. If you did it correctly, the trainer should have an exclamation point above his head as you Teleport.
For the time being, your menu will not work. This is normal. Proceed to Route #25.
Approach the Youngster (#4) on Route #25, but do not battle or talk to anyone else besides the one Mountain Man (#1). You must battle him from as far away as possible. It is impossible to avoid him, but it will still work if you then head to #4. [After fighting the Mountain Man your start menu will be accesible again, but it is not recommended to access it as it is unknown what may go wrong here. Same goes for the Youngster.]
You must engage the Youngster in battle from far away. Do not walk towards him and talk to him or the game will freeze.
Battle the Youngster and defeat his Slowpoke.
Now walk back to Route #24. As soon as you reach the route, your Start menu will automatically appear.
Press to cancel the menu, and you will instantly be taken to a battle with a level 7 Mew.
Weaken the Mew enough to catch it, and it's yours. Normal Poké Balls will not always work though, so try something stronger.
If fighting Misty is postponed, the Swimmer in the Cerulean City Gym may be used just as the Youngster, without requiring fighting the Mountain Man. After defeating the Swimmer, walking north to the Nugget Bridge will trigger the appearance of Mew as before. Since the Jr. Trainer never has to be battled, you can catch two Mews this way before ever seeing Misty or Bill.
Warning: Do not talk to anyone in Cerulean. Doing so may trigger glitch battles, slowdown, and game crashes.

If you're playing Pokemon Yellow, you go visit bill's, then catch the Abra on the route below Cerulean City.
