Not many sites now days extend the entire width of the browser window. Vizzed does and I'm wondering if it makes vizzed seem more cluttered and to wide.

Here's an example of a forum/site that doesn't extend the width:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?from=submenu&f=46

So the question: Is Vizzed to wide?

EDIT: Also please specify the width of your monitor because for some with 1024 pixel wide monitors, it wouldn't be a problem but for someone with a really big and wide monitor it would be a bigger problem.

I like vizzed the way it is

I don't think you should change it or anything, I don't think that it makes look cluttered...

For me the width looks great

Hrm... personally, I don't find it to be too wide. Then again, I do use a laptop, so maybe someone with a gigantic monitor would think differently. Maybe you could make an option to where Vizzed doesn't extend, and the space is fixed.

My screens pretty wide. I have a 15.6" screen and I have no problem with the sites width. I actually prefer it more than the other forums I've been on.

My screen is about 15.5" (I believe), and I think it looks fine the way it is. It doesn't seem at all cluttered to me.

I find it pretty wide but that's probably because I'm on a huge desktop computer right now lol.

I like th whole idea of taking up the whole browser. It gives ou a variety of options right there, it's easy to view that way, and doesn't seem to be a major concern to the site nor the members from what I've seen anyways

I have a 20 inch wide screen monitor and I don't mind at all. I honestly prefer it being this wide... more text fits horizontally on the screen which means it's a shorter page than it would otherwise be. I wouldn't change it.

Which brings up another good point. I think I posted something similiar to this, that since everything is wide and stretches, it makes posts and such easier to read.

With a board like this, where members are able to create layouts and there are a lot of user-created graphics, it's best to have it take up the whole screen because all that stuff takes up a large amount of space. In fact, it's almost impossible to have what we have on a board like the one David has shown with limited areas. It's why those boards only allow sigs. Another board I go to, LS2.com, is exactly like that. What we have setup here is pretty much necessary.

I'm currently on a 1024x768 it fits pretty well. In the RGR you cannot see the side sections at all. I personally prefer fixed width myself cause you can fit stuff perfectly But the current width isn't bad are you planning on setting it fixed?

Scanning with window can be nice but it can also be a pain Layouts would look better fixed if your layout is designed for a fixed width/height. If you were to make vizzed fixed you could probably make stuff look more perfect

I love how vizzed looks, it being wide makes it not look cluttered to me, there's a lot of space and everything, like peoples posts, are really easy to read. The only thing I noticed wrong with the width is that when you make the browser window not it's full length, the reply button at the top of the thread disappears and I have to scroll to the bottom to find it.

Fixed width doesn't make stuff look cluttered it makes it look more stable in my opinion. Scanning with window seems like it has more clutter cause it is forcing you to view the whole site horizontally. I'm not a fan of it at all Also how is it easier to read stuff??? I have a fixed forum and its really easy to read at fixed width. Plus the recommend width for reading text is about 11 or so words per line... something like that.

JigSaw: From a web designer perspective, yeah fixed width is so much easier to work with and you have more control over the look and everything but I'm going to offer what my users want instead of what I want lol. The fixed width would actually be meant for your monitor width since that's what most web pages are made for and 24% of users have that width (and the rest of wider). Also the reason you can't see the side stuff in the RGR is because that's sorta space that was meant for people with wider monitors.

BTowns: That's a weird problem

JigSaw: What do you mean by viewing the site horisontally, the board is to wide for your monitor so you have to scroll horizontally?

I usually don't have my browsers at 100% horizontal so there are scrolls at times, especially on this horrible 1024x768 monitor. I got over 10 windows open all the time

My screen is set at 1280 wide and it looks find this width.

I think with a wider desktop monitor it may look bad. Fixed width wouldn't be bad at all, I'm a fan, but would that mean that people with a low width would have to scroll horizontally?

I prefer it to use the whole browser instead of fixed width.

I try to minimize horizontal and vertical space so that I free up as much for possible for the website.

So it better make use of the space. Why else would I use high resolutions?
